AHK Firefox Search Plugin
Thanks to this post, I made a Firefox Search Engine plugin for the Autohotkey forum. You can use that method to make a search plugin for almost any phpBB forum.
Ideally, Chris could unzip this file to the autohotkey.com root and then provide a link (as described in the /templates/fisubsilversh/plugin_body.tpl file) so adding the search engine is as easy as clicking the link.
To install manually:
- Download and extract Zip File
- Close Firefox
- Browse to the plugin folder (unzip location\forum\plugin)
- Copy both files to your Firefox SearchPlugins directory (like C:\program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins\)
- re-open firefox
- See Autohotkey Community in your search engine list!

Great minds think alike! I began writing one but I couldn't work out how to get the search results to display like they do with the default settings so I abandoned it. Hopefully others will find this useful. _________________ "Anything worth doing is worth doing slowly." - Mae West

I'm reluctant to install mods to the forum that:
1) Haven't been tested with the latest releases of phpBB.
2) Don't add a lot of value in terms of the number of people using it and the time they save over using the built-in search.
Another concern is that such mods tend to impact the ability to upgrade the forum in the future. The mods themselves also tend to break whenever the forum is upgraded.
I guess I've had some bad experiences with mods because there are a lot of them out there that sound good on paper but really make a mess of things. |

@Chris
I can appreciate your reluctance. I just figured it was worth a shot. At least, if anybody really wants it, they can manually install it. |
