A few months back, Gina posted a feature on tackling repetitive email with a very cool Thunderbird extension called QuickText. As a dedicated Gmail user, I’ll admit that I was jealous when I saw what QuickText can do for your email inbox, especially for those of us who deal with a lot of repetitive email.
At that point, as tempting as the switch looked, I still couldn’t bring myself to leave the web-based bliss I’ve found in Gmail. While Thunderbird is an excellent app in its own right (and I use it for some of my work-related email that doesn’t offer email forwarding), you can’t beat the easy access and power of Gmail from any browser.
So to make up for Gmail’s (or any other non-Thunderbird email client’s) lack of a QuickText analog, I’ve spent a little time with a very cool app called AutoHotKey (Windows only) to put together my own QuickText replacement.
