Hello!

Very well done creating this awesome software. And it's free! Thank You very much! I just learned Colemak a month ago, i'm Slovene so i also now use different keys for the č, š, ž characters than zhe Colemak layout. Now I'd like to also remap the arrow keys into alt + I, J, K, L keys. Can this be done?

Thanx

I use TouchCursor to put cursor keys on the main keyboard. It is separate from PKL, but they work fine together.

I love PKL (colemak), but have run into a problem with text expansion. TyperTask (which I run portably from PortableApps.com) does not work it I have the layout enabled. If I suspend the layout, TyperTask works just fine, but it is a pain and I would love to have them work together.

Any chance that is something that could be addressed?

Or does anyone know of a text expander program that can run portably (i.e. no install required) that does work with PKL enabled?

Great program, I only have one problem:

I remapped the caps lock key to work as a second AltGr key using the extend functionality. I only have a problem with the two following entries:
In layout.ini
[global]
extend_key = CapsLock
...
[layout]
CapsLock = OEM_CAPITAL 0 -- -- -- -- -- ; CapsLock
...
SC031 = N VirtualKey ;
SC031 = N 0 k K -- κ -- ; QWERTY nN
SC032 = M VirtualKey ;
SC032 = M 0 l L -- λ -- ; QWERTY mM
In pkl.ini

[extend]
SC031 = κ
SC032 = λ
When pressing AltGr + k (n on the keyboard) I get a kappa, but when I press CapsLock + k I get a question mark. I have tried saving the pkl.ini as UTF (same encoding as the layout.ini) but then I get an error. ANSI changes already the characters in the file to question marks, only the unicode file looks ok, but produces the output above. I also tried with *{ASC nnnn} but could not find a code that produced greek letters. It works great when writing "normal" characters like ° or {}, just not with the more exotic ones. Any ideas? Thanks!

hey guys!

great app.

Sorry, I was not able to read all 13 pages. there was too lot of information I didn't understand/

I am traveller and want to use just my native language keyboard as soon as I plugin the USB stick (using Autorun.inf, but that is an other topic)

Now, my question is just that: how do I get just a classic keyboard???

I found out how to change to all the custom keyboards, I actually also downloaded them all.

But there is just no chance to get a classic keyboard!

preferable a German QWERTZ keyboard, but an English QWERTY would also be enough for the beginning.

Thanks

i created my own, cause I didn`t want to wait. just by changing an other layout to my needs.

it is not a complete change but all I need and complete usuable for German.

should I post it somewhere?

i complete ignored any copyright, so I don`t know if Schmidhauser has problems when I post some changes of his layouts?

greets

Hi !

Thanks for that project, it's really usefull.

I wanted to see the sources, and maybe add few extra functionnality like having multiple extend_key like R_extended_key and L_extended_key... And also make the extended keyboard work with Shift like extend_key+e=é and extend_key+Shift+e=É.

The idea is to transform a usual Azerty keyboard for Real typographic French, mathematics, programming and physics, and not that difficult to learn. You know, for people that are difficult to convice to let down their old writting machine style keyboard.... And for that i would love to access to e, é, è, E, É, È, with one key... like Normal, AltGr, and Extend modified by Shift to make them uppercased.

Anyway, taht project is still Open-source ? I'm looking for the sources without success... anyone can help me ?

Thanks, and have a good day !

Thank you for creating this software... I use it for a modified Colemak layout which I love.

I have a problem that perhaps you know the solution.  When my pkl is running, some of my keyboard shortcuts in Outlook 2013 and Windows 8.1 do not work.  For example, when I set up 'Ctrl+Alt+C' to start the Calculator app in Windows, the shortcut works when pkl is disabled, but when it's enabled, Windows doesn't start the Calculator app.  Is there a way to fix that?

Very many thanks!

I wrote up some documentation for creating PKLs. It's a bit long for a forum post. Is there a better place for it?

I am very interested in seeing this documentation.  I have used this software on and off for some years now for Colemak, and it is wonderful.  I am interested now in getting a dvorak layout PKL, but I cannot access the sourceforge sources or other layouts for this project, so i would like to make my own and post it here.

Does anyone know if the alternate layout PKL's hosted somewhere else?

Thank you for your time!

Adam

Hello,

Thank you so much for creating this Portable Keyboard Layout. I am trying to use it to use the Programmer Dvorak layout on a heavily-restricted corporate laptop. I am specifically using the package described on this stackoverflow page.

Upon starting the executable, I see an image of the Colemak layout at the bottom of my screen, and a "Co" icon in the system tray. Furthermore, the keyboard becomes unresponsive. Regardless of the keys that I press, the keyboard appears to produce no output. If I click the "Co" icon such that it is disabled, I can begin typing in the system default layout again.

It is very possible that there is some pre-installed security software preventing Portable Keyboard Layout from operating correctly. But I would like to take some steps to debug and possible find a work-around. I'd really appreciate any assistance. Thanks.
