The author confirmed to use ToPng within your own app and redistribute. (in case of your app is freeware)

so how would I use this? is there an example to use in an ahk script?

ToPNG "FileToConvert" [format]

run nconvert.exe ToPNG "browser.png" [pgm] ; browser.png is in the same folder.

Let me know I have no clue.

To convert all bmp images in dir c:\cam to png and save them in the same dir.

loop,c:\cam\*.bmp
runwait, c:\topng %A_LoopFileFullPath% , , hide

I recommend Sean's screencapture that has a convert function too.

thanks a ton... I actually use that script sean made..it must be the most useful script I have ever used but unfortunately it does not convert to greyscale or even pbm, pnm, pgm...so the convert function was useless for me in this instance...I have found out how to get toPng to work as follows:

run topng.exe browser.png jpg

This works good in a line of script

The major problem was it advertised conversion to pbm...but it does not convert the file to pbm...if I put that in as the format, however most of the other formats work fine. Thanks again!

PS if you know how to get it to convert to .pnm(this is my favorite choice and just so you know I will have all of the files in the same folder) that would be awesome as I would not have to use imagemagick which is great but sucks because it is a program not an app...

I have actually found a way to have standalone image converter from imagemagick.

I just downloaded the standalone package and then I moved the exe that I need to my code folder to use and when I tried to use it advised me of a specific dll I needed in order to use it how I wanted to and boom it works on any machine without install imagemagick!

I dont know how useful it is for others that dont want the users of their program install anything. imagemagic exe's are kind of heavy though but I am thrilled that I got away without installing it, however toPNG is much much light if we can figure out how to make it work good.
