- Thanks for the link, tank.
- The video title, length, and presence of Doug Engelbart seemed encouraging, but I watched it, and they sold the technology really badly/unconvincingly.
- Half an hour on how you can store shopping lists!?
- They should have been more honest and clear about how it benefits them personally, or they should have been clearer re. how it could help businessmen/businesswomen or everyday users. When you go for the middle ground, you convince no-one.
- They explained the mouse very well. Ironically though, I generally don't use a mouse, I use an external keyboard, I use win+arrow keys to move, and win+numpad keys to jump to the centre of one of 9 screen areas. So, as much as I like the mouse, if any naysayers watching, doubted the mouse, they're not actually wrong.
- There was a bit of text editing (only copying/pasting paragraphs really), hyperlinks, mouse use, code editing (code folding), user logging, glossary lookup, videophone (but was it really part of the software), and a movable armchair.
- So, potentially interesting, but can equivalent functionality all be done efficiently and without a mouse, in a regular command prompt? It's hard to gauge what types of 'command prompt functionality' would be difficult to achieve at the time.
- Anyhow, I applauded the effort.
- I was thinking of doing some AHK demo videos, and it really makes it clear for me something I'd been thinking: the basic things seemed too basic, and the complex things seemed too esoteric, but perhaps both categories were the best things to focus on. Be it too simple or too complex, give a genuine use case. Aim for ordinary people, business uses, and programmers, don't fall somewhere in the middle, and convince no-one. 'Wow, here's something semi-neat-looking that no-one will ever want to do.'
