I've been away from AHK for a few months now and came back to all the recent happenings. I gotta say, my eyes sighed in relief when I got here and saw the old style phpBB boards again. Realistically, I'd like to stay here forever, just like it is, no fancy pants css boards etc.
Rebuilding the code base isn't that big a deal considering all the files got nuked a while back anyway, and it's just testament to how strong the AHK community is IMO. Thanks for setting this up Tank, even if it ends up being temporary, it's nice to see the AHK forums the way they were when I first found them. Functional and full of good people. :D

I have no idea why this new forum was set up, but I returned after some time on the official autohotkey forums and I found it difficult to use because of weird super small fonts, very light gray text on white pages (ie difficult to read), missing Expand Collapse from the scripts option, and on top of that - the usual annoying new breed of users praising the new forums for being "stylish" . These days - lack of functionality, low contrast and visibility = stylish and "clean" :)
Welcome back to the AutoHotkey community. You may want to read "About ahkscript.org".

Thanks so much, tank. Your action is allowing the community to find its voice again, and thank you to the other ahk'ers who are building up the new forum. I'm still just an elementary user of mainly ahk-basic (or rather, the subset of it and ahk-l that I call ahk-common). I started using ahk not simply because of the program in itself - I've had a great deal of trouble learning various ahk features - but because of the wonderful community; the scripts they post for others to use and modify as needed; and the help they go out of their way to render to others. Poly showed a lack of respect for the entire community, whatever version of ahk any particular person was using. The time had come when talk had to be supplemented by action, and thanks so much for devoting the time and effort to that action.

Jethrow and I have had great fun with name changes. I leave it to the MODS to decide.

Glad to see that the community now has a place to be where they actually matter, and their voice will be heard. :D
Thanks tank. ;)

Been experiencing some problems with images not showing up in the old "official" forum so I thought it was time to register an account here. Thanks a lot tank!
The full editor is awesome new forum users can now easily add
This quote box
and

Code: Select all

Code box
Is there a spoiler function in this forum?

Can we change our username? This is because that there is already someone called SnowFlake...

Thanks for your answer,
You may pin your answer or elaborate and pin as it is an important fact to know.
After all, we (noobz) heavily rely on forum searches (our holy grails) to not disturb too much "advanced" members . . .
And when a big disruption like this one happens, we (noobz again) are a bit at lost . . .:
and started copying content
That is the holy grail I was talking about: content.
Thank you for doing it, it might be quite complicated!

so the basic issue that finally broke the camels back
many users visit the page with no CSS or images
i have 4 machines multiple browsers. only one one machine within chrome am i able to load the site. on another machine in IE9 never in FF. Poly has refused to respond to any reports on it and in addition to deleting some threads where dissention was voiced he has been otherwise completely MUTE and inaccessable. Some of us never experienced the problem. Some never found a way to get to a working version. I did the only thing i could and tossed up PHPBB3 registered a domain and started copying content. I want nothing more than for Poly to let another developer work on the old official site fix the issues and assume a permanent support role. I would even bet the community would take up donations and pay a salary if it was consistent and good support. I am trying to get Sumon on board to take a role of developer and support. i honestly dont have the kind of capacity necessary to do it properly. but i wont let it fall down either
I will keep our heads above water and will interview and entertain the idea anyone with web development skills that has a serious desire to help.
