Especially since he hasn't actually said anything online about his plans or why is he neglecting the forums/AutoHotkey in general. Also, I wouldn't want AutoHotkey to get a name change (at most having "AHK" be made more prominent would be fine with me).

i can't say i agree with this fork discussion

no disrespect at all to tank, because he's done a great job in all of this.

Good enough for me. I'll abandon the old board completely. Bummer we have to do this. It's a strong community with one exception.

We have Lexikos and Fincs
and pretty much all of the admins already

Like everybody else, I really hate the idea of the fork, but if it has to be done I guess it has to be done. Does anybody know what polyethylene actually wants? Would throwing some money at him do the job, and if so how much would it take?

If this forum is going to be successful it's going to need to have the big dogs like Lexicos involved.

As for a name, I like AhkScript. You could gradually just change the whole name of the project to AhkScript, since it's about so much more than hotkeys these days. I use it for pretty much everything, when I have a half dozen languages I'm very good at to choose from. It just hits the sweet spot for most of the things I need to do.

I prefer #4 http://www.ahkscript.com. It's short and clear. When I read it, I get what it's about. Let's keep one domain name for documentation, forums, etc.

I don't know if it would be good to have an extra domain for documentation...

I know... Some of these are very interesting, but currently I feel Foundation is a keyword, here, and maybe when poly is too old or retired (long time ahead :P) the autohotkey.com domain will surely be freed.. So somehow I feel like we're "betraying" new users by confusing them between autohotkey ahkscript etc... Id say that this forum is more like.. The current (in progress) autohotkey foundation forum... I do not necessarily disagree, it's just a thought... Even though, apparently we need legal "work" to be done, to be officially a foundation, I still feel that the goal (the basic principles) of a foundation can still be achieved, without all that paper finished prior to action...

Oh well, I hope I didn't write any confusing sentences..
Regards

I'd prefer
  • AHK-Community
or
  • AHK-Scripting

btw, in german "Ahk" is also an abbreviation for "Anhängerkupplung" (trailer coupling). ;)

I like ahkscript.com the most.

I like the change to AHK. It is what I prefer to type anyways when talking about AutoHotkey.

I also noticed that ahk.org was for sell but I have no idea what a site address like that goes for. They want you to make an offer but from what I have seen most all three letter addresses are quite expensive to buy.

I like ahkscript.com and ahkscript.org. The script part makes it descriptive for those who have no idea what ahk stands for. I am assuming those addresses are available and I would just register them both and have one redirect to the other. I believe the keeping of a web address registered each year is pretty cheap. It is generally the hosting that cost more. Heck for $10 - $15 a year I would keep Auto-Hotkey.com and have it redirect.

AHKscript.com looks pretty good.
