some of the redirects from our htaccess are not playing well with the latest version of apache. I hadn't considered this when i made the announcement. Its a tedious process as there are dozens of htaccess littered in various directories. each time a page is requested the htaccess is read by apache. by moving these settings to the server config they are read only at startup. its overall a better practice as htaccess files both have an overhead and are really designed to be patchwork.
I am working through this consolidation and will update this thread when finished

Yesterdays issue was actually unrelated except that its one of the reasons i am rebuilding the servers. Typically, i catch it quicker before the db shuts off but i missed it this time

Nothing. I noticed it was down for a bit yesterday. Was getting SQL errors. Checked the forum today and saw this post but no update about trying to perform the updates on the 17th so just curious

It is time to implement some server hardware and software upgrades in order to maintain the highest level of security for our little community.
over the past few months i have been working on the details of a new server build.

tomorrow at roughly 6 am UTC i will be taking the forum offline for no more than 3 hours. Because we are moving to a new server to take advantage of the latest provisioned OS and hardware the site certificate and DNS will be updated. during this transition there may be periods of certificate errors or other temporary issues. Please be patient. if the three hour window proves to not be enough due to some unexpected technical issues I will simply roll back to the current setup and reschedule

When complete there should not be any identifiable differences. If there are
