Re: Colon : Hotstring/Hotkey to Function Only When To The Left of ' or "

I was thinking something along those lines but my editor doesn't allow me to select the character to the right of the cursor, in order to analyze it. You mean the script couldn’t send a Shift + Right Arrow and a Control + C to highlight and grab the character to the right like most WYSIWYG editors?...

Re: Colon : Hotstring/Hotkey to Function Only When To The Left of ' or "

In case anyone's interested (probably not but you never know) this is my work around for now. Basically I'm just going to the end of the line, then left one character before entering the : My Ahk Code :b0*?:{::{}}{Left} ; Self Closing {} :b0*:"::"{Left} ;SELF CLOSING DOUBLE QUOTES :::SendInput, {End...

Re: Colon : Hotstring/Hotkey to Function Only When To The Left of ' or "

The way I read the OP however, I take it you don't want the quote to be part of the hotstring because your editor has already typed the closing quote and you are just typing the colon character to trigger when it is followed by an already existing quote character. Is that correct? That is exactly c...

Colon : Hotstring/Hotkey to Function Only When To The Left of ' or "

How can I make a : function as a hotkey/hotstring when its to the left of a " or ' ? Ordinarily, I could just create the hotstring :*:`:":: to accomplish this but I have self closing "" quotation marks in my scripting shell. :::SendInput, IT WORKED ; Colon hotkey ;^indicates caret position and where...

It is possible:

Code: Select all

Hotstring(":*::","This should be easy")
I've never seen that way of declaring a hotstring before, thank you!

Hallo,
use this Hotkey:

Code: Select all

:::SendInput, This should be easy
Thank you very much for the reply, I have resorted to assigning it to a hotkey as it doesn't seem possible for it to function as a hotstring.

Use Single : As Hotstring. Topic is solved

I'm aware a hotkey could be used but I'd like to use a hotstring.

None of my below attempts have worked:

Code: Select all

:*::::This should be easy
:*:`:::How hard could it be?
:*:{:}::Okay what gives

Re: How to use access a global variable from a hotkey Topic is solved

Edit: I got it. I just had to declare my key variable above everything else in my script. There were other hotkeys/code above the code I chose to show for the question.

How to use access a global variable from a hotkey Topic is solved

Hi all, I'm trying to use a variable to designate the key to be sent but I'm not able to access the variable outside of the hotkey, where I would rather it be declared. Re: Access Output Variable from Function Topic is solved

It’s not likely that ^q wasn’t working. Something else must have gone wrong. Try this script to confirm it: ^q::MsgBox, Control+Q was pressed You don’t need the < . I just included that because it seemed you wanted to specify the left control key. Yep works now, it seems to be the case that somethi...

Re: Access Output Variable from Function Topic is solved

See comments in the script below. Parameters aren't how you (typically) return values from a variable. You use return so that the value of the function call becomes that value. #SingleInstance, Force #Persistent SetTitleMatchMode, RegEx GetSelectedText() { ; note, no parameter passed (described bel...

Hi guys, I'm having trouble accessing an output variable I created in a function. I'm trying to output selected text into a message box. I'd appreciate any feedback. Hallo, your script doesn't start running at all because pre-execution errors. But a single comment is enough for the whole rest! Stop Script From Running Below A Certain Point

I want to be able to stop a script from running after a certain point. Any errors (ex. things that would trigger: this line does not contain a recognized an action) below that point should not trigger an error because they should not be run/read (I don't want to comment out the lines). I've tried us...

Re: Only Activate Hotkey on 2nd Key Press, otherwise send normal key function

I came up with a solution a bit different than than my initial approach. Since I'll only need to use the 2nd key press feature when I'm in a text field of some kind, the hotstring below does what I need it to. It would still be nice if I didn't have to see the two q's momentarily though. :*:qq:: Sen...

Only Activate Hotkey on 2nd Key Press, otherwise send normal key function

Hi all, I'm trying to use the q key as a paste (^v) key when its pressed twice in rapid succession, and just to function normally when it isn't. My problem is that when I do press the q key twice, it sends the letter q before pasting. For example, say I have '12345' in my clipboard. If I press q twi...
