Re: Keysharp - the resurrection of IronAHK

Hi Joe, I am going to post it here: https://bitbucket.org/mfeemster/keysharp/src/master/ Once I have it working reasonably well. Posting it before then won't do any good. I'll announce here when I post it, which will be in another few months, but hopefully not more than six. After that, we'll all co...

Re: Keysharp - the resurrection of IronAHK

Still chugging along burque505 . I work on it almost daily. My process is such, starting with the most basic parts: -Take a very simple, isolated part of the language as specified in the AHK help file, such as an assignment operator, multiply operator, creating and concatenating strings... -Write a ...

Keysharp - the resurrection of IronAHK

I am a senior developer myself with mostly Windows experience, a little bit of Linux, and no Mac OS experience. From about 2010 to 2015, several people here worked on a project called Iron AutoHotKey which was a complete re-write of AHK in C# with the aim of being cross platform. Sadly, the project ...

Re: We want AHK for Linux!

burque505 Thanks, glad you like my other project. It's a whole other rabbit hole that has some consumed some people for over a decade. Be careful there! BoBo I will only be doing Windows development for a while. But once I eventually start working on the linux part, I will use linux mint. Not for a...

Re: We want AHK for Linux!

All (and IsNull if you're still here), I have read through this thread, as well as the entire archived IronAHK development thread, and would like to announce that I am taking up this work. By starting with the last revision of the IronAHK code, and reworking it, fixing bugs, and then continuing to d...

@BoBo Thanks, but it still won't let me reply to your message, or compose a new PM to you.

Re: My experience porting AHK scripts to Linux.

A moderator named BoBo just sent me a PM and I can't reply to him.

BoBo: if you see this, can you please enable the reply feature on my account? Thank you.

Re: My experience porting AHK scripts to Linux.

I've further inspected both the AHK and IronAHK code and see how they do it. Horribly inefficient, but it looks like the only way.

Re: My experience porting AHK scripts to Linux.

Hi SOTE , thanks for the welcome. I have all of the IronAHK code and have mostly made sense of it. I will check out that IsNull person if I get stuck. I am indeed trying to make something independent of WINE. My intent is to pick up where IronAHK left off and expand it, while also doing a few things...

Re: My experience porting AHK scripts to Linux.

Thanks, that looks rather interesting, although I'm not exactly sure what the intent is. Am I correct in thinking that it's not doing any type of parsing or running of scripts, but instead, it's taking various functionality that you'd see in scripts (and is implemented in C++ in AHK) and just provid...

Re: My experience porting AHK scripts to Linux.

Thanks, I read through the documentation, and sadly much of it is indeed missing. I could still get the gist of most things though, and the rest I can infer from the code. That said, my suspicions were correct. Both the code you posted, and something simple like: hotstring("mmm", "Monkey") Don't sen...

Re: My experience porting AHK scripts to Linux.

Thanks @burque505,

Lacking the documentation, I wasn't aware of that syntax. So can you please just zip and post the documentation here?

Thanks.

Re: My experience porting AHK scripts to Linux.

I have been working on this daily and need a quick sanity check from anyone using IronAHK. It appears they use virtual keys to represent any of the key sending data internally in the program. This has the problem that it can't distinguish between upper and lower case. So for example, if you have a h...

Re: My experience porting AHK scripts to Linux.

Not yet, I am currently working through the code, trying to straighten out a lot of things. Also, I mentioned in my post: > I am also going to change how certain things are done under the hood. Perhaps in a future post I'll go into the details of what this means. But for now, it just means I need to...

Re: My experience porting AHK scripts to Linux.

Hi, I am brand new to this forum. I found AHK a month or so ago and have been tinkering with it. I wish I had found such a thing earlier! Oh well, better late than never. Anyway, I am a senior developer myself with mostly Windows experience, a little bit of Linux, and no Mac OS experience. I saw som...
