Re: Upcoming Ahk2Exe Changes (2019)

@Drugwash
UPX parameters are -q --all-methods as mentioned above. No level is used. I have found that the parameters I have used give the best compression for only a little extra elapsed time.

Re: Upcoming Ahk2Exe Changes (2019)

Note:
With UPX (unlike Mpress) it is trivial to decompress a UPX packed executable; simply run UPX on it with the -d switch.

Re: Upcoming Ahk2Exe Changes (2019)

@JoeWinograd
You could try adding the switch --compress-icons=0 to your externally run UPX job. (You may also use the switches -q --all-methods which are used by Ahk2Exe.)

Let me know how it works out.
Cheers

Re: Upcoming Ahk2Exe Changes (2019)

@joedf @JoeWinograd Ok, here are the compiler directive details to replace the other icons in the generated .exe: ;@Ahk2Exe-AddResource Icon.ico, 160 ; Replaces 'H' on blue ;@Ahk2Exe-AddResource Icon.ico, 206 ; Replaces 'S' on green ;@Ahk2Exe-AddResource Icon.ico, 207 ; Replaces 'H' on red ;@Ahk2Ex...

Re: Upcoming Ahk2Exe Changes (2019)

@joedf @JoeWinograd
It’s possible that the extra icons can be replaced using the existing facilities in the beta (using 'AddResource'). That will simplify everything. If it works I will document this facility in the help.

I’ll look into it tomorrow NZ time!

Re: Upcoming Ahk2Exe Changes (2019)

joedf It would be best to implement this as an icon change Compiler Directive, rather than another parameter to the CLI. JoeWinograd can then replace all icons with his standard icon, while allowing other users to substitute their own icons if required. We can implement this before freezing the spe...

Re: Upcoming Ahk2Exe Changes (2019)

@joedf
You know I’m currently updating the help system? It would be helpful if we could freeze the spec!

@JoeWinograd just wanted to remove the icons, not replace them (as I understand).

Is that your understanding?

Edit: Also @JoeWinograd wanted to do this in a Compiler Directive.

Re: Upcoming Ahk2Exe Changes (2019)

@JoeWinograd
Nothing like this in the new Ahk2Exe, sorry.

Is your request just for cosmetic reasons? (In case someone looks inside the .exe an sees these icons?)

You can show your own icons for 'suspend' and 'pause' using Menu, tray, icon, ... as I’m sure you are aware.

Re: Upcoming Ahk2Exe Changes (2019)

@lexikos
Thanks.

In the index.js, some of the entries have 1 or 2 extra fields, e.g. '6,"SSSSESSS"'. Are these fields documented anywhere?

In the .htm files, under <head> there are entries <title> <meta name=... content=...> . Are the name and content important? Where are they used?

TIA

Re: Upcoming Ahk2Exe Changes (2019)

Drugwash If you can run Microsoft's HTML Help Workshop you can roll your own. Here's the instructions I snipped from the 'Wish List' part of the forum: @Ragnar Apr 6 2018 'Suggestions on documentation improvements' If anyone wants the offline help with the old sidebar back, here's what you can do: ...

Re: Upcoming Ahk2Exe Changes (2019)

joedf I don’t see that putting the error codes into the chm would be useful. They are of limited use anyway, as the first error encountered causes a detailed message box to be shown in all cases, then the conversion is abandoned. Error codes in the chm will also be more difficult to maintain. If it...

Re: Upcoming Ahk2Exe Changes (2019)

@developers Just looking at updating the help. I’m planing on updating the 'script.htm', Ahk2Exe section, plus linking to a new page with the Directives. Is this the best way to go, or just include the Directives in the script.htm file? (I’m a newbie here.) Also Editor to use? (I’ve just used Notep...

Re: Upcoming Ahk2Exe Changes (2019)

@joedf
Joe, I’ve just compared the AutoHotkey/Ahk2Exe source with mine and found that there are essentially no differences. (There was a small difference in Ahk2Exe.ahk at around line 205, but this did not affect the logic.)
Good work!

Re: Upcoming Ahk2Exe Changes (2019)

Yes, that was my point, probably expressed badly. The live version is uncompressed, possibly to avoid being flagged as a virus.

Re: Upcoming Ahk2Exe Changes (2019)

@JoeWinograd
The new versions I released as beta were compressed with Mpress, whereas the old version in 1.1.31.01 is uncompressed. (Thought to reduce the possibility of being flagged as a virus?)

Re: Upcoming Ahk2Exe Changes (2019)

@joedf
Is that how git is supposed to be used? Just throw everything in as one huge commit?

Edit: I merged the Edge branch to Master on my repo and I see that it also shows as one large commit.
Thanks for your work with this :thumbup:

Re: Upcoming Ahk2Exe Changes (2019)

lexikos I have no more enhancements for Ahk2Exe and it seems to be stable. I’m happy for the GitHub Edge branch of TAC109/Ahk2Exe to be included with the next version of AutoHotkey if you are ok with this. (The Compiler must be compiled with itself as it contains Compiler Directives. It will take t...
