Re: ? hotkey to toggle suspend & pause at the same time does not work? Topic is solved

P.S.: And the reason, why ^t:: Pause, Toggle MsgBox, test return works, I assume, must be because AHK must have a build in logic for this special case, allowing another thread of the same hotkey (even with default settings) after all only for this case. Probably similar to what the help describes fo...

Re: ? hotkey to toggle suspend & pause at the same time does not work? Topic is solved

Ah, ok, found the reason in the help file under "Threads" : By default, a given hotkey or hotstring subroutine cannot be run a second time if it is already running. Use #MaxThreadsPerHotkey to change this behavior. Obviously variants are considert different hotkeys in this context, which is why your...

? hotkey to toggle suspend & pause at the same time does not work? Topic is solved

Hi all, This code does not work, and I don't understand why: ^t:: Suspend, Toggle Pause, Toggle MsgBox, test return It does suspend and toggle the script at first press of Ctrl+t, as can be seen looking at the tray icon. But pressing it again, does not do anything. Why? I thought, it should un-suspe...

Re: ? List of #included files to check them for their file encoding?

Thank you for wanting to help, teadrinker.
I think I'll still do it as I wrote in the update above.
This way is a bit too complicated for me right now.

? List of #included files to check them for their file encoding?

Hi all, I hope that I overlooked something. ;) I want to make sure that all #included files in the script are encoded in UTF-8 with BOM. This is, because, I can have my main script in UTF-8 with BOM but if #included files are not, then it again can mess things up, as my test showed. So far, I did no...

Re: ? Checking current script file for how it was saved: UTF-8 with or without BOM? Topic is solved

Nope, if the file doesn't contain BOM, you (and AHK) can't get the encoding known, so always use UTF-8 with BOM to save scripts. To fully answer my title question in one post, as far as I understood: First of all, this applies only to non-compiled versions, of course. The script *can* check if it i...

Re: ? Checking current script file for how it was saved: UTF-8 with or without BOM? Topic is solved

But on your computer it will always be the same. :D Yes, I thought so. Thx for the confirmation. ;) Since it returns the system default ANSI code page , it can be something else. :) That is interesting. Do you know what it depends on? Only talking about systems which AHK can run on, of course. Is i...

Re: ? Checking current script file for how it was saved: UTF-8 with or without BOM? Topic is solved

Thx, to both of you. I think I got it now. @Rohwedder , Yes, that's kind of what I had in mind before too. As teadrinker already wrote, though, technically the position itself only tells you if there is a BOM or not. If there is a BOM, however, then the position alone would not tell you, which encod...

? Checking current script file for how it was saved: UTF-8 with or without BOM? Topic is solved

Hi all, I assume that I could retrieve the encoding of the current script file easily with the encoding property of the file object, if I open the script file with FileOpen() for read. However, regarding the BOM, the help file for File Object reads RetrievedEncoding is never a value with the -RAW su...

Re: command line raw? Topic is solved

Since nobody answered, maybe this is not possible.
Still, I'll bump it one time only, if I may.
If again nobody answers, I'll assume, the answer must be: not possible.

Thx to the mods for hopefully understanding.

command line raw? Topic is solved

Hi all, I know how to get the command line parameters. But I see real problems with the backslash-escaped double quote (see https://www.autohotkey.com/docs/Scripts.htm#cmd_args). I don't see a real solution to this other than to hope that I could get somehow the whole raw command line without any re...

Re: What the hell is Caboodle?

Ok, well, I don't want to leave you hanging by not responding anymore, therefore here is my conclusion for right now: I personally don't see a need for that concept. Even more so, I see more problems with it than benefits. The only theoretical benefit, I see, would be to be able to send others, who ...

Re: What the hell is Caboodle?

Hi there, I like new and inspiring ideas, thus thanks for posting, still the following questions: 1) Which problems of nowaday's situation with AHK would be solved with your idea? 2) Why at all use any other programming language other than AHK itself in this case? I think that disappoints quite a fe...

Re: Suggestions on documentation improvements

One question, though: What would be an example for If conversion between code pages is necessary, the length of the return value may differ from the length of the source string. ? This is *not* talking about bytes, but is talking about characters, right? I strongly suppose it means the length in ch...

Re: Suggestions on documentation improvements

I implemented your suggestions. ... For example, if you convert a string with a length of 10 characters to UTF-16, the converted string would only be 5 characters long, and vice versa. 1) I am glad I could contribute. 2) That's exactly why I asked. The thing here is that the length of bytes will ch...

Ok, I saw something else: String := StrGet(Target [, Length] [, Encoding := None]) ... Encoding Type: String The source encoding; for example, "UTF-8", "UTF-16" or "CP936". You're right, they should be included. Thx for the confirmation. Regarding StrGet / StrPut: Changes of this size should be submitted via pull request on GitHub to get a better overview of what exactly you have changed. In my opinion, I don't see any significant improvement here. Also, the boxes in ...
