Win10 bug? CopyImage() w/ LR_CREATEDIBSECTION

Recently when testing some old scripts of mine under Win10 x64 I noticed a couple of them were displaying their "skins" in color chunks instead of gradient as it always was the case from Win98SE to at least Win7. After some debugging I found out that the CopyImage() API was the culprit. In fact it's...

Re: Forum changes, requests and features

What's with that google translate toolbar iframe at the top? I don't wanna see ANYTHING google on my computer(s)! Either make it optional (through user's control panel) or remove it altogether. Whoever needs translation can send/paste a link in their own browser's context-menu/toolbar/bookmark/whate...

Re: Allow AutoHotkey to Handle Binary Data

Could we get back on track? Safe and easy handling of binary data in AHK v1.1+.
Oh and I agree with SOTE: KISS.

Re: Allow AutoHotkey to Handle Binary Data

Hi, Helgef , thanks for replying. :) I've seen this hint a couple times above that says "might as well switch to v2", but it's not that simple. We have to keep in mind that there are many good old scripts whose authors are not around anymore and it would be quite a shame to break them by uncondition...

Re: Allow AutoHotkey to Handle Binary Data

Maybe also a BinLen() to return the real and accurate size of the binary buffer, since VarSetCapacity() and StrLen() don't always cut it. I wonder how many scripts have been/are randomly failing all these 16 years because their authors assumed assignment and comparison would seamlessly work for bina...

Re: Allow AutoHotkey to Handle Binary Data

Objects might just be overkill for simple operations on binary buffers, IMHO. Or it may just be my lack of familiarity with them.
Either way, something is needed in this regard and I guess it has been for a long time.

Re: Allow AutoHotkey to Handle Binary Data

Well, then try new operators specifically built for binary operations.
Such as b :=? a, if (a =? b), if (a !=? b).
Would that be feasible?

Re: [x64 & x32 fix] DeskIcons - Get/Set Desktop Icon Positions

Thanks. I've been using that tool for about two years, some 1.6.3 version. It even worked on the 98SE machine, with the help of KernelEx and some fiddling around. Unfortunately it can't save/restore those darn toolbars and the Quick Launch. :( Have you tried my suggestion with naming them 1.lnk, 2....

Re: Windows Message Search tool

You're welcome. That was my addition anyway, I hate both having strings cut off and unnecessarily large widths. ;)

Re: Windows Message Search tool

In the autoexec section, just before return there's a loop that sets AutoHdr for all columns - delete that loop:

Code: Select all

Loop, 3
	LV_ModifyCol(A_Index, "AutoHdr")

Re: Windows Message Search tool

Thank you very much for testing and feedback. Hopefully it was just burque's Win7 system at fault and the scripts will work correctly for everybody else.

Re: Windows Message Search tool

Well, I did save both scripts as UTF-8 w/ BOM on my machine from the very beginning. But I don't think this should affect the parsing of a variable that contains CSV text read from an ANSI file that has not been tampered with. Or should it…? BTW, jeeswg: have you tested these scripts here? If so, ho...

Re: Windows Message Search tool

Oh well, at least we're not crazy. :D (actually I'm not so sure about myself :P ) Thinking logically, it appears that systems newer than XP automatically strip nonprintable characters from the ListView fields. That would explain why you don't see those CRs on your systems while I do see them here on...

Re: Windows Message Search tool

I'm stumped. :( I even unpacked the Unicode AHK 1.1.30.01 and ran both my mod and your latest through it - results are the same: mine works correctly, yours displays an 'empty box' character (Carriage Return/`r) after each decimal value. At this point we need opinions and feedback from other users. ...

Re: Windows Message Search tool

New version. A few minor changes. Still can't figure out how the same code can yield different results. Is it about AHK being x86 vs x64? Is it the system itself, XP vs 7? Please try this version, see if it works for you. Works fine here on XP. Maybe try launching the script with the 32bit AHK. 2019...

Re: Windows Message Search tool

That's really strange. :( For one, have you tried to save the script as UTF-8? It'd display the "Starting with…" properly. Maybe that would also fix the missing decimals, although unlikely. Also try to remove the "Logical Right" options for column 3 of the ListView, see if it makes any difference. T...

Re: Windows Message Search tool

Ah yes, I forgot to mention I saved the script locally as UTF-8, just in case. As such, that "Starting with…" would appear as you mentioned when viewed as ANSI. I added that checkbox only for a quicker refinement of the results. Maybe its name is not well chosen, you can try to find a better one. Wh...

Re: Windows Message Search tool

Good, the list is (more) complete now. And thanks for the tooltips, it's more usable now too. ;) A few minor fixes and changes: - fixed CR codes being propagated to the decimal values column in XP (Sift library needed to be slightly modified too) - fixed multiselect active in ListView - fixed ListVi...
