Re: SplashImage not working with certain apparently unrelated code Topic is solved

Thank you so much for your input. Yes, that must be it! It's the z-order. I wonder why the singleinstance, force and msgbox commands were making it work. Perhaps leaving the script window as the last highest window in the stack, so the splashscreen displays at the top as well? Very pleased to have f...

Re: SplashImage not working with certain apparently unrelated code Topic is solved

Thanks, Bobo. But does it also work if you comment out the MsgBox?

Re: SplashImage not working with certain apparently unrelated code Topic is solved

Thanks for the replies so far. Changed the "NA" modifier to "A" makes no difference, sadly. I have to admit, I suspected modifiers might be affecting things. But adding a KeyWait, Control at the top of Testing4() makes no difference. It feels like a bug in AHK, or in the OS, but that's just a hunch....

Re: SplashImage not working with certain apparently unrelated code Topic is solved

It's a function hotkey (see here: https://www.autohotkey.com/docs/Hotkeys.htm#Function). It works just like a normal hotkey, so just press ctrl+4 to invoke.

SplashImage not working with certain apparently unrelated code Topic is solved

I'm seeing some very strange things happening when using SplashImage. The following code works with the SingleInstance directive commented out, but when I uncomment it, the SplashImage command has no effect. The code also works if I uncomment the MsgBox just before the SplashImage – I then see the s...

Re: MinHook - API Hooking Library

Ah, i think I realise why, but perhaps someone can confirm.

Does MinHook only hook APIs in the context of the calling program? I was hoping to hook calls to DrawText from another process, but I don't think MinHook does that...

Re: MinHook - API Hooking Library

I tried to hook the DrawTextW function, but I get zero calls to the hook function. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks! SetWorkingDir %A_ScriptDir% #NoEnv #Include <MinHook> allCalls := "" nCalls := 0 hook1 := New MinHook("user32.dll", "DrawTextW", "DrawTextW_Hook") if !hook1 MsgBox, Fai...

Calling a class object by string name

Hello, I have a collection of objects stored. I also have a stored a list of obj.__Class strings - so in effect I have a list of the types of object in my collection. I want to call a method of the class object (what's called the base or prototype object here: https://autohotkey.com/docs/Objects.htm...

Re: Getting a menu name from its handle

Coming back to this after a long break. AHK's new (since this thread was started) MenuGetHandle() and MenuGetName() functions have really tidied up my code. Thank you for adding them! Lexikos, is there a way of getting at the item ID assigned by AHK to items in a menu? I'm still keying my array of m...

Re: Finding the default app for a file type (Win 10)

What string do you get if you do this? And have you seen any references online to people using this program/dll to open an image? AssocQueryString just gives a null string, unless I pass 18 as the second parameter, in which case I get a CLSID back (see my original post). That CLSID corresponds to t...

Re: Finding the default app for a file type (Win 10)

Thanks for this, jeeswg. Your rundll23 line is almost exactly what I have already tried, and sadly it just gives: There was a problem starting %SystemRoot%\system32\twinui.dll The specified module could not be found. So it seems twinui.dll can't be invoked in the same way as PhotoViewer.dll. Your As...

Finding the default app for a file type (Win 10)

Hi there, I've read around on the forums and Google about this for some time, but I'm now at a brick wall. I'm hoping someone can help. I'm trying to find out the default app that runs when you double click on a jpeg file. In fact, I want the command line that's called. I've done this successfully f...

QT controls - can they be accessed?

I want to control an application that appears to be written with the QT Framework. Is there no way for AHK to access controls within the QT Framework at the moment? More and more apps seem to be using it as far as I can tell. I found the Accessible Info Viewer https://autohotkey.com/board/topic/7788...

Re: COM event handler parameters returning values

That works for me too. Thanks so much, kon, I really appreciate it.

This would be a great thing to add to either the COM tutorial thread on the forum here, or the AHK help file.

Re: COM event handler parameters returning values

Thanks, kon. Is "cancel" in the above the name of the parameter in the function/method?

BeforeClose(ByRef cancel, wkb)

And should it be declared "ByRef", or doesn't it matter?

Again, many thanks for weighing in here...

Re: Monitoring file access / File opening

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I don't think that solution can notify me of a file load. It could tell me of a file access in theory, although Windows doesn't seem to update the file access date as I would expect.

Are there any other suggestions?

COM event handler parameters returning values

I've been successfully using COM events with AHK for a while, but I've so far avoided the issue of event handlers that expect values to be returned in the parameter list. Eg. Excel's workbook event, BeforeClose, defined in VBA as: Private Sub Workbook_BeforeClose( Cancel As Boolean) Cancel is False ...

Monitoring file access / File opening

I'm wondering if it's possible to monitor a particular folder to see when files are opened (preferably by the user, but that's not essential). Alternatively, to monitor when files of a particular extension are opened? I want a callback or event or message or something like that. The closest I've got...
