Re: Colorette - Simple Color Picker (v 2.1)

Nice! I still use the old Colorette, have been using it longer than I can remember, just because it is simple and it works so well. Welcome back, Sumon. I wonder what was updated. Thanks! Always nice to hear that scripts I created get used. I mean, that was the purpose when creating them... :) As f...

From here: ... Hey, it seems I never saw your reply; I've just stumbled upon it. Thank you very much for the overview, and for explaining how those options work! I have used Debug Vars in the past, and I believe Autohotkey Studio (or was it Scite for Autohotkey?) uses it in its debugging process, t...

I greatly appreciate Joe Glines and his wonderful videos and tutorials!

Out of curiosity, isn't using lawyers for patents and copyright a little bit counter to the spirit of open source and Autohotkey?

Hey, thanks for translating and posting! Suggestion: it might make the scripts even more accessible if the first post contained a few sentences describing what those scripts do. Example usage would also be a nice addition.

Re: Stand-alone syntax validator?

I did not read the thread correctly. I was running the OP without problem. When I run your code, I get the same unexpected result of ¾ ? é ? Û . I have no idea what is causing this problem. I tried encoding with: UTF-16 Big Endian, UTF-16 Little Endian, UTF-8 with BOM, and UTF-8. All the encoding o...

Re: Stand-alone syntax validator?

may I ask what this means in ahk (in your opinion) : ¾ ž é ō Û Hubert It means nothing; it's just a test for Unicode characters. I am using this in a linter: when you type text in an editor, it automatically shows you errors. The problem is that it won't show the error correctly if there are certai...

Re: Stand-alone syntax validator?

I ran on AHK v1.1.30.01 U64 with Windows 10 Home. USA system with no international stuff going on. It ran fine with the expected error identificaion. FG Thanks for testing! Gosh, how odd. The second message box gives ¾ ? é ? Û for me. My system is set to American English, using the American standar...

Re: Stand-alone syntax validator?

I am running AHK v1.1.30.01 U32. Hey, thanks for testing! So you got yet another error! Now we have two completely different outputs, yours and mine, but both incorrect. Did the first message box display the correct symbols for you? You're running 32-bit Autohotkey; I'm running 64-bit. We're runnin...

Re: Stand-alone syntax validator?

If you use /ErrorStdOut, any load-time error that occurs will be written to StdErr. If you use /iLib, the script won't be executed even if there are no errors. ... /iLib normally creates a file listing any stdlib auto-includes that your script uses. Using nul prevents this. ( nul is a feature of th...

I imagine that could be written better but I know nothing about python coding and just adapted stuff from elsewhere until something worked.

Re: [Making an AHK linter, encoding issue] Unicode characters like € are shown as â?¬ : convert them back somehow?

You can see here that the UTF-8 bytes for the euro symbol contain a comma, so you could end up with a comma there, and hence an extra argument for FileAppend, if you save the script as UTF-8 with no BOM. ... Another consideration is whether the script you're running that contains the FileAppend lin...

Re: [Making an AHK linter, encoding issue] Unicode characters like € are shown as â?¬ : convert them back somehow?

Maybe you need to save the files as UTF-8 with BOM. Or UTF-16 with BOM. Thanks for your advice; I think saving as UTF-8 with BOM may have helped somewhat. I get most Unicode characters correctly now, using your script to decode the gibberish. But I think there is a different issue here. This minima...

Re: MS Visual Studio / AHK Studio - for AHK-script

VS Code is intuitive and easy to use. It has significantly less startup time and uses less resources than most other IDEs I have worked with. (Its about 300MB) It provides a lot of plugins that are easy to find and navigate and often offers one plugin per language that can be seen as standard. This...

I get this for the euro symbol: €, not .
Oh, dear. I hadn't noticed. So the problem is even worse than I thought, and it cannot be easily solved by back-conversion. I wonder what I could do.

You can use StrPut to convert UTF-8 bytes to Unicode characters.
