FileMove and File Copy as variables?

Is there any way to make FileMove and FileCopy into variables? For example, this didn't work:

Code: Select all

if act = 1
Action := "Move"
else
Action := "Copy"

File%Action%, SourcePattern, DestPattern [, Overwrite]

What would? Thanks.

Thanks very much for all the replies. I got it working I didn't realise vertically centering an edit control was so complex.

AHK GUI Edit Control vertical centering?

I'd like to have a single line edit control with extra space top and bottom so that the text is centered vertically. I tried using 0x0200 which works for text controls but it seemed to have no effect. Suppose I have font set to size 16 and a edit control with a height of 50 how can i vertically cent...

StringcaseSense, Variables and parsing problem

I want to be able to create variables in upper and lower case. I thought stringcasesense would help but so far what I have doesn't work: StringCaseSense, on H := "HELLO WORLD!" h := "hello world!" test := "Hh" loop, parse, test { line := A_loopfield ": " %A_loopfield% msgbox, %line% } I'm only seein...

Multiple ListViews and LV_SetColors?

I have three listviews, A, B, and C. When a row in A is Selected I highlight the row using the function LV_SetColors . When a row in B is selected I use LV_SetColors to "decolor" the row in A and color the selected row in B. I only want to see one row from Listview A and B colored at a time. This wo...

WindowSpy Flicker

On my Windows 7 64 bit machine the txtNotFrozen variable has a nasty flicker. Is there any way to stop it flickering? The old AU3_Spy.exe does not have this problem. Thanks

Re: Compile issue v1.1.30.00 and v1.1.30.01

Thanks for the replies. I had no trouble compiling with version AHK 1.1.29.01. I don't think it is a permissions issue as this occurs in different folders on different hard drives and yes I can carry out regular activities in those folders. I think it is a memory issue as the issue is not consistent.

Capitalise nth word of string?

I made a function to capitalise the nth word of a string and it works but is bulky and I just wondered if there was a single line of RegExReplace that could do the same thing. Eg change, "out of africa is a movie " to "out of Africa is a movie". Thanks.

Re: Compile issue v1.1.30.00 and v1.1.30.01

Thanks, I use process, close rather than taskkill. I've confirmed using task manger that the executable is not running and that the message appears when the executable is compiled.

Compile issue v1.1.30.00 and v1.1.30.01

When compiling I keep seeing this error message:
Error: Could not copy final compiled binary file to destination
Note, this happens when the compiling succeeds. It doesn't happen every time but always after my computer has rebooted. I seem to remember this problem from several years ago.

Re: StrSplit() vs StringSplit

Wow! Thanks for the incredibly fast replies. Just after posting I managed to find length() in the help manual. I'm gradually moving over to using functions and abandoning stringsplit, stringreplace and the like. Cheers.

StrSplit() vs StringSplit

I have a set of text files containing lots of lines of text. Some lines have no tabs, some have two and some have three. If a line has more than one tab I want to swap the content before the first tab with that after it. I know how to use stringsplit to do this but that is depreciated. But it seems ...

Sudden Problem with strReplace and CR+LF's

For some reason StrReplace() and stringreplace are not working for me within a loop, for example: loop, files, D:\Records\Record.txt, R { fileread, Record, %A_loopfilefullpath% Loop, parse, Record, `n { if A_loopfield is not space { Rec := substr(A_loopfield,instr(A_loopfield,A_tab)+1) Rec := strRep...

Looping through file names with Gui for user input?

I can't figure out how to loop through a list of file names and pause the loop to give a user the chance to rename one of the files. I looked at this topic but didn't fully understand the example. Can anyone provide a fuller example? I tried this: loop, parse, filelist, `n { msgbox, 4096, OK, start ...

Sentence Case

StringUpper and StringLower can convert a string to Title case but how about Sentence case? What's the best way of converting a string like "it is a string" into "It is a string"? This seems longwinded: OldText := "it is a string" NewText := "" loop, parse, OldText { if A_index = 1 NewText .= format...

Automate making Windows Explorer media thumbnails

I have a lot of folders containing mts, mov and mp4 files. When I open a folder in Windows explorer it slowly makes thumbnails for the files. Is there any way to do this in advance, preferably using AHK? I7d like to see the thumbnails immediately when I browse using Windows Explorer. Thanks.
