Re: Opening a web page in the current browser

!x:: press Alt+x for testing WinGet, pPath, ProcessPath, A MsgBox % "Run, " . pPath . "/param1 /param2 /param4" Return :) Thanks for your reply. I managed to get this code to display the message box (but only after I had commented out the text after the hotkey). However, even then, all it did was d...

Re: Opening a web page in the current browser

What browser btw? Various. I don't want the code to be browser specific, but rather to work with whatever browser is currently active. Run, command would also be a possibility: Run, https://www.autohotkey.com/ Actually, this is a good idea because the url is specified outside of the address bar, so...

Re: Opening a web page in the current browser

Paste to the bar is faster ... Yeah, I guess that would help, although I do have a clipboard utility, so I wouldn't want to have it filled up with useless urls every time I run a hotkey to open a page. I'm sure there's bound to be a way around that (I've seen people doing all sorts of fancy stuff w...

Opening a web page in the current browser

Is there a better way to open a web page in the currently active web browser window (in a new tab) than just using SendInput to literally type out the text for the desired page into the URL bar? That's the method that I'm currently using. It works, but there is a noticeable lag as the text is typed ...

Re: Move window depending on number of instances running

Something like this. It will only move the window is you run more than one instance Thank you for this. It looks like it could be the basis for a solution, but when I tested it a lot of the instances keep opening off-screen with just a small part of the window visible. I don't know how to ensure th...

Re: Move window depending on number of instances running

Thanks, but I'd like the first instance to be left alone and not to open in a different position each time. The program retains its last used position or it can open in a set position, and I don't want those abilities overridden by random placement all over the screen. It just 2nd 3rd 4th instances ...

Move window depending on number of instances running

I have a program with a small window that I run using a hotkey. I often run multiple instances of it (manually one by one, not all launched simultaneously) and each one opens in the exact same place on the screen, meaning that it looks as if only one is open. How would I get each subsequent launch i...

Re: Help with IniRead & IniWrite to replace matched text

Thank you very much, Xtra . The code that you provided works well, and it very clearly sets out how the command should be structured. I understand it much better now that I can see exactly which bit goes where. However, despite this code working perfectly in a test file, I was still having problems ...

Help with IniRead & IniWrite to replace matched text

I'm having difficulty using the IniRead and IniWrite commands to write to an ini file, and I would appreciate some help. I would like to check a specified .ini file C:\Users\ABC\AppData\Roaming\XnViewMP\xnview.ini for a section called [Browser] and look within only that section for a line that start...

Re: FileCopy not working Topic is solved

Thanks again. It is now working.

I just looked up Legacy Syntax vs Expression in the AutoHotkey Help file and ....... OH ..... MY ..... GOD!

What a minefield!

I'm glad that I had your shorthand explanation above.

Re: FileCopy not working Topic is solved

Thank you for the explanation.

What about in instances where I want to use something like: A_WinDir or A_AppData in the path?

FileDelete, % "A_AppData\Prog\file.txt" does not work
nor does:
FileDelete, "A_AppData\Prog\file.txt"
nor does:
FileDelete, A_AppData\Prog\file.txt

Re: FileCopy not working Topic is solved

Thanks Odlanir. I was pulling my hair out trying to understand why nothing would work. It was driving me nuts. The commands all just failed silently with no error message, so I had no idea where to even start looking for a solution. Putting % before strings is not mentioned in the help file under th...

Re: FileCopy not working Topic is solved

Arrggh! .... even a straightforward FileDelete does not work.

FileDelete, "C:\test.txt"

How can something so simple go wrong? What am I missing?

FileCopy not working Topic is solved

I'm trying to do a very simple file copy, but nothing is happening. I want to copy a file (that has no filename extension) to the same folder as the original but with a new name. In other words: copy Bookmarks (bak) to Bookmarks (so that there are now 2 copies of the file instead of one). FileCopy,"...

Re: Return focus to selected items on Desktop Topic is solved

I did some digging around and I found the problem. It was my fault! (it usually is, haha). I had modified your code slightly to make an exception for when the Start Menu has focus. I needed to send a different hotkey in that instance because !{Enter} just launches the Start Menu shortcut link for th...

Re: Return focus to selected items on Desktop Topic is solved

Thanks. I had already tried WinActivate, ahk_class Progman but it didn't work, which is why I thought I'd make a follow-up post for more suggestions. When I saw that you had an alternative WinActivate method, I gave that a go, but it didn't work either. The fact that both methods work for you and ne...

Re: Return focus to selected items on Desktop Topic is solved

Just noticed an issue with the script.

Despite the fact that the WorkerW class has been included, the script does not function correctly after 'Show Desktop' has been used.

Any idea why? The inclusion of WorkerW usually fixes that issue.

Success! This works perfectly.

It's the object part that I could not figure out. I will look more into how they work.

Much obliged to you for your help.

Cheers

Return focus to selected items on Desktop Topic is solved

I've created a hotkey to toggle the properties dialog of selected items. If the selected item is in an Explorer window, I can press the hotkey once and its properties dialog will appear. When I press the hotkey again, the dialog closes. I can do this repeatedly to open and close the same dialog for ...
