How to force Explorer to refresh?

Hi! In some situations (e.g. a timestamp of a file is changed by an AHK script...) Windows Explorer does not show accurate timestamps or icons of files. Even applaying F5 for refresh does not help in such situations. I am not sure but maybe this updates the file icons: DllCall("Shell32\SHChangeNotif...

How to use RawRead (a newbie question) Topic is solved

Hi! I just can't figure out why this isn't working. The file which should be read is present, not open in another program or running, but the RawRead fails: MsgBox II shows the correct length. In the case of an exe (Lux.exe) MsgBox III shows 0; in the case of a txt (Text.txt) MsgBox III is not shown...

Re: WinClose fails in OnMessage/ShellMessage

Please forgive me for this bunch of newbie misunderstandings!

The error window was not detected because the OnMessage line was inserted too far down in the script...

Sorry...

Re: WinClose fails in OnMessage/ShellMessage

I know now that I completely misinterpreted my problem.

In my script the syntax-error window is not detected by OnMessage/ShellMessage! What could be the reason?

WinClose fails in OnMessage/ShellMessage

Hi! EDITED: Sorry...it's not worth reading. A bunch of misunderstandings! I hope that this question is understandable enough. I am using OnMessage(MsgNum, "ShellMessage") to detect the syntax-error window on start of another script and to close it immediately. In the following demo script this works...

Re: OnExit and shutdown

abort the shutdown... I am working on this method, yes, thank you very much, swagfag. But already a reliable aborting of shutdown (which works on all Windows versions) seems to be difficult to implement... Two more questions: - In Windows there are probably no temp folders, which are emptied automa...

Re: OnExit and shutdown

It seems that no new program at all can be started from the exit function (neither a CMD nor a bat nor a VBS script nor an AHK script nor an exe). So the deletion of the interpreter at shutdown should be impossible...

Or does anyone here have a brilliant idea?

Re: OnExit and shutdown

Thank you, swagfag! I am now able to answer my own question: - Yes, the OnExit demo script works for all exit reasons. - It works for shutdown too. - Failing in my case is due to the peculiarities of "some actions". The following new demo script illustrates this: #Persistent Global ExitTxt := A_Scri...

Re: OnExit and shutdown

Thank you, SirSocks & wagfag! SirSocks: ... As exit reason, however, the documentation also lists shutdown... (!?) swagfag: I know that this topic is dealt with in the documentation, but for shutdown unfortunately too little explicit for me ... hence my question here. Does the exit function have to ...

OnExit and shutdown

Hi! In my script "some actions" are executed correctly on ExitApp (hotkey F9). I suppose this should work for every other exit reason too, shouldn't it? In my case (where "some actions" are quite complex) this fails on shutdown (or if the script is terminated from TaskManager). Am I correct when I a...

Re: Controls with shortcut keys

WalkerOfTheDay, I edited my demo script to illustrate the problem better. The shortcut letter doesn't work if the MsgBox is displayed.

Controls with shortcut keys

Hi! The following demo script shows a gui with a button, for which a shortcut key (b) is set. If a MsgBox ist open, the shortcut key does not work, even if the gui is the active window (but clicking on button works). Is there a way to make the shortcut key work even if there is a MsgBox? Gui New: Ad...

How to pass an "empty parameter"?

Hi! The script MyScript.ahk contains a function like this: MyFunction(file, path:="", icon:="") which can be called i.e. like this: MyFunction("Text.txt", , "Icon.ico") i.e. the second parameter can be left empty. The script itself accepts parameters which will be used as parameters for MyFunction. ...

Re: FileGetTime & DST problem Topic is solved

jeeswg: Hm... Shouldn't we rather assume that the FileGetTime() -> FileTimeToSystemTime() -> SystemTimeToTzSpecificLocalTime() method (implemented in the script from just me), which is based on the explicit recommendation from Microsoft ( https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/desktop/api/fileapi/...

Re: FileGetTime & DST problem Topic is solved

jeeswg: My question was answered by just me and his solution solves my problems completely. You can't reproduce the problem? Are you in a region with DST? If so, simply apply FileGetTime to a file which was last modified this year before switching to DST. You will see that FileGetTime behaves as des...
