Re: [ ??? ] FileOpen() Exception

Its not about speed its about finding bugs faster and more easily. Im pretty sure at this point that you just try to argue to change the language so that the code structure that you already made makes sense - Im sorry though, the code structure you made doesnt suit v2. Changing it back just so that ...

Re: [ ??? ] FileOpen() Exception

You are very much still free to use the DllCall Version.
I don't see the problem considering your definition of keep it stupid simple.

Re: [ ??? ] FileOpen() Exception

In fact to me it seems like AutoHotkey doesn't handle the INVALID_HANDLE case of GetStdHandle either.

Re: [ ??? ] FileOpen() Exception

Yeah but AutoHotkey returns an error as soon as it detects that the handle it receives is false. In the description to GetStdHandle: If the function fails, the return value is INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE. To get extended error information, call GetLastError. If an application does not have associated stand...

Re: [ ??? ] FileOpen() Exception

From what I understand nothing is connected to the stdout - you would have to call AlloCConsole first. See the example in the help file: ; Open a console window for this demonstration: DllCall("AllocConsole") ; Open the application's stdin/stdout streams in newline-translated mode. stdin := FileOpen...

Re: [ ??? ] FileOpen() Exception

The fact that the language is different on my PC probably mean that this is not an AHK error message but rather a Windows error message.
We have to decide whether we want to fix windows bugs in AHK with possible hackfixes.

Re: [ ??? ] FileOpen() Exception

No you would use try whenever it is needed and makes sense: try { preprocess(fileobject) ; ... actprocess(fileobject) ; ... endprecess(fileobject) } Catch e { if (e.message ~= "Access Denied") { logFeedback("Couldnt open COM: Access denied - This often happens if there is another program open that t...

Re: [ ??? ] FileOpen() Exception

So you mean to say that you will just use A_LastError instead of ErrorLevel in v2? One of the biggest issues of v1 was ErrorLevel and the impossibility to properly debug it. v2 fixes this by throwing an Error whenever an Error occurs - to keep it stupid simple. This also means that if you use any ki...

Re: [ ??? ] FileOpen() Exception

This is what should happen.
I don't see how anything else should happen.
There will be no special circumstances for 500 unique cases just because someone in the forum finds it convenient.
A user writing a script needs to be informed when a command doesnt work.
Exceptions are the way of doing this.

Re: ImageSearch: Click center of found image

I do agree that AutoHotkey should provide basic stuff like interaction with image files.
However it is also fairly simple to use GDIp to find the size of the image.
From then onwards its a rather simple math problem.

Re: Regex documentation bug

Bug reports is only for errors in AHK itself - as in when the documentation is correct but AHK doesnt follow it.
When the documentation is not correct just put it into this forum.

Re: [v2.108 - BUG?] Slow Loop Parse for expression

It would because the string gets copied every time - possibly even multiple times.
It only getting evaluated once is an assumption - if it really is 10 times slower this would be a possible cause.
