Re: Why are static definitions not inherited?

this was the whole problem with introducing the idea of "classes" into AHK. there are no classes in AHK. the class keyword was syntax sugar, to make it easier to write prototype based objects, which is what AHK uses, not class based objects. when you write class in AHK, you ARE instantiating an obje...

For the most part the real difficulty of converting comes from advanced changes that require you to analyze and change your script to adapt it.
Yes, that's the real difficulty.

The rest is just simple search and replace.
Its not a simple search and replace.

Re: AutoV2Script > ChangeOrSuggest V2 code for V1 script Topic is solved

I don't think a 100% accurate "Auto V1 to V2 Conversion" script is necessary. Its not whether its necessary, its just not POSSIBLE. Some changes are bigger than just syntax changes. There are functionality changes, which require users to consider design changes. If the script can simply analyze a V...

Re: AutoV2Script > ChangeOrSuggest V2 code for V1 script Topic is solved

I spent a lot of time working on something like this a few years ago: https://www.autohotkey.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=25100 I haven't kept it up to date with the latest v2 changes. Last I remember, I wanted to change all of the commands into functions, I think after lexikos made the change whe...

Re: What is your way to use K&R style?

So I was using indentation, and I was tongue-in-cheek. keep lying: I used the AutoHotkey style guide for indentation, which is where? Btw some of us only really know coding through AutoHotkey so ... I don't like when people indent too much, I don't find it helps, although I did use some indentation...

Re: What is your way to use K&R style?

- There were some tongue-in-cheek comments here (Feb 2017), which you appeared to take completely literally: jeeswg's RegEx tutorial (RegExMatch, RegExReplace) - AutoHotkey Community https://autohotkey.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=28031 all you had to do was say, "yes i was dumb in the past, and ...

Re: What is your way to use K&R style?

I find the Allman style more readable, with all brace pairs always in the same column. The braces are more visible, and the level of indentation clearer. thats funny, i remember you used to not indent at all, and then when everyone told you how dumb you were, you got mad and defended yourself telli...

Re: What is your way to use K&R style?

I'm a strong upholder of K&R, but sometimes it doesn't work: the times it "doesn't work" is quoted in the AHK docs. they call it the "One True Brace (OTB)" style: https://www.autohotkey.com/docs/commands/IfExpression.htm#otb Do you mix the styles? Or, probably, you simply switched to Allman? i used...

Re: [a103]Unfortunate collision of a few things

Then what about if a,b and similar? speaking of bad language design, this pattern return a := 0, b := 1 and any variations thereof should be verboten Thats personal preference. , is a multi-statement operator and can be used in any expression. If return cannot handle this operator return is simply ...

Re: If syntax

msgBox % "The next one will not end" max := 10 loop { if a_Index>max ; parentheses are required break ; but it's ok with AHK v2 print( a_Index ) } not a bug. traditional if vs expression if. see these pages https://www.autohotkey.com/docs/commands/IfEqual.htm https://www.autohotkey.com/docs/command...

OnExit passes ExitReason, ExitCode and whatever other parameters u might have bound
ur onexit handler accepts 0 parameters, change it to ExitFunc(*) if want to ignore any parameters that have been passed to it

Re: OnExit() bug Topic is solved

The documentation is not up to date, the error is intended. Changed function calls to throw if too many parameters are passed. Added fn(a,*) as a means to permit but not store surplus parameters. Cheers. i dont get it. if anything, too FEW are passed. what am i missing? what should my code look like?

String escapes: img_strings_and_escapes.png i really like your string escapes coloring, i may try to port that to Vim. however the escapes `" and `/ and \\ are invalid in AHK https://www.autohotkey.com/docs/commands/_EscapeChar.htm you should run this to test: MsgBox, % "Heavy`"Metal"" is 'the' L\"...
