Re: How to run Outlook macro?

The Outlook application object doesn't seem to have a Run method like the Excel application object does. :cry: You could just translate your macro into AHK. That's an interesting idea. I wouldn't have considered that, since I only thought of doing things through keystrokes. But your reply to Bianca...

How to run Outlook macro?

Last week I got good advice on " How to run Excel macro? ". Now, I'm trying the same in Outlook (using "Outlook.Application" per MS's documentation ): TestMacro() { oApp := ComObjActive("Outlook.Application") oApp.Run("SimpleTest") Return } a:: TestMacro() return But I get the error "unknown name". ...

Hotkeys for this forum

I just wrote in another post "The way all good GUIs are designed is that they assign shortcut keys to their buttons" - and then I realized that I don't see any hotkeys here in this very forum! In any other forum, I'd just shrug it off as one of the things one has to accept when using a third-party s...

Re: Forum upgraded to phpBB v3.1.x

I'm missing two features from the old software: My user name used to appear on top, which confirmed for me that I was logged in, and gave me instant access to my profile. There was a link like "your recent posts" on top that helped me find them. Now instead I have to go to my profile (for which I ha...

Re: Gui with many buttons, when a key is pressed with same initial alphabet, it should not launch rather set focus,Lik

If nobody replied it may be because other people are as confused by the question as I am. The way all good GUIs are designed is that they assign shortcut keys to their buttons, which don't necessarily have to be the initial of the button, to avoid that problem. If there are still any duplicates left...

Re: Outlook attachements

what do you mean by "without opening each email and each cs"? Getting at the content without opening them sounds like trying to make omelets without breaking eggs; I doubt that this is possible at all. Or do you just mean without opening them manually ? If so, then I wouldn't have used AutoHotkey fo...

Thank you, that showed me my VBA error, and it works now.

For future reference, I also found this related forum discussion: ComObjActive(CLSID).

How to run Excel macro?

There was a 6 years old discussion at AutoHotkey.com , which recommended using either oExcel := ComObjActive("Excel.Application") try oExcel.Run("MyMacro") or, supposedly better, oExcel := Excel_Get() try oExcel.Run("MyMacro") The first one doesn't elicit a response from Excel to the hotkey I assign...

Re: Example from help file not working anymore for Outlook 3

Thank you, Iomega0318, that works. And thank you for the link, too!

BTW, To open a reminder, Outlook now accepts the {Space} key, which is a bit easier to find.

Re: Example from help file not working anymore for Outlook 3

Yes, it still works in the reminders window, but it also works in any other Outlook window, which is bad because you want to use Enter normally throughout the rest of Outlook.

Example from help file not working anymore for Outlook 365

The help for #IfWinActive / #IfWinExist contains the following example #IfWinActive Reminders ahk_class #32770 ; The "reminders" window in Outlook. Enter::Send !o ; Have an "Enter" keystroke open the selected reminder rather than snoozing it. #IfWinActive Unfortunately, this doesn't work anymore for...

Thank you, too, tmplinshi. I didn't notice your post until after I posted mine, but it may come in handy, too. I noticed that Visual Studio uses GUIDs for the window name, so this may teach me how to deal with that.

Re: Sending keys to Internet Explorer

Thank you! :clap:
Great idea to use Escape - that made the counting easy: It just needs to be pressed once. The following solves it:

Code: Select all

!z::
    Keywait Alt ; it even needs it when the hotkey has no Alt, (tried with z::)
    Send, {Alt up}
    Send, {Escape}
    Send, ^w
	Return

Re: Sending keys to Internet Explorer

Alas, {Alt}fc and ^w are not the same thing. My code works until there is only one subwindow open, in which case the "Close tab" command is not available anymore, but ^w still is. Since the code with the Send, {Alt} didn't work, and since I don't understand what it's supposed to do (When entering ke...

Re: Sending keys to Internet Explorer

Thank you, that was a good idea. The following code seems to work:

Code: Select all

!z::
    Keywait Alt
    Send, {Alt} ; activate the menu
    Send, f      ; "_File menu"
	Sleep, 100 ; without this, it often doesn't work.
	Send, c ; "_Close tab" menu entry
	Return

Sending keys to Internet Explorer

I'm trying to assign a key to close a subwindow for all applications that have them. Under Windows 8.1, it works for MS Access, Visual Studio, SQL Server, and Notepad++. But it doesn't work for IE. Strangely, it does work if I insert a MsgBox before the Send command. Is there anything I can insert i...

Re: lower and upper case mappings

Perfect, thanks a lot! That works, and it makes sense; I now see that the addition of Send actually simplifies the program.

There's one other thing I learned: That it is apparently not necessary to write a comma after Send.

lower and upper case mappings

I have what I thought would be a very common task: I simply want to assign keys to special characters in lower or upper case, depending on the Shift state, as any keyboard does naturally for all standard letters. I'm surprised that I couldn't find anything about this in the "Basic Usage and Syntax" ...
