Re: SIMPLIFIED How to install AutoHotKey_H COMPLETE

Hello. I've been scouring the internet looking for a method of installing AHK_H... AHK_H files from the official GitHub can directly replace AHK_L files. You don't need to recompile anything or have to use Visual Studio (until you are ready or want to), unless you are trying to change the default p...

Re: Using .XLSX Files Without Microsoft Excel; Only AHK

If you install the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2016 Redistributable (or 2010 version), then for provider you can put Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0 . The below provider, Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 , would be on a lot of computers, so the Shajul example script would likely work. objConnection := ComObjCr...

Re: Using AccessDatabaseEngine w/ Excel .XLSX?

Haven't found anything that specifically deals with xlsx in this case... Thanks BNOLI. However, this was solved by at least one AHK coder a long time ago, Shajul. https://autohotkey.com/board/topic/61204-adodb-excel-database-query-ahk-l/ (ADODB Excel Database Query [AHK_L]) I was looking in the wro...

Using .XLSX Files Without Microsoft Excel; Only AHK

Wondering if there are any AHK coders out there that have experience using AccessDatabaseEngine to read Excel .xlsx files? If so, could you share some examples? More specifically, this is for not using Microsoft Excel or for computers that don't have Microsoft Office, and want to use AccessDatabaseE...

Re: Report False-Positives To Anti-Virus Companies

Hello, I have been getting the following message for about 2 weeks with Windows Defender. It is a script which I have written with autohotkey. What can i do? You should read the 1st post. Other people don't know where you got the file from, know about any strange code that a person might be sending...

Re: Detect clickable link in Chrome

This post has me a bit confused. To me the advantage of sending JavaScript is to do something that couldn't be done otherwise or you are trying to automate the browser in the background. However, in looking at reverberation's original code and the picture, it looks like "here" was the hyperlinked wo...

Re: My experience porting AHK scripts to Linux.

Belated welcome, and good to have you aboard, mfeemster. I'm a bit confused by the conversation. My understanding is that wrapping the AutoHotkey.dll will not work on Linux, unless the intent is to use WINE. This might not be the path that one wishes to take, as one might want to be independent of W...

Re: Examples of good use of Goto, in AHK Topic is solved

SOTE, thanks a lot. Also wanted to mention that the C example of "busting out" of multiple nested loops is clearly just as valid in AutoHotkey. (Pseudo Code) Loop ... { Loop ... { if (breakout_condition) { Goto final } } } final: Do Whatever Though in various cases you can use the While loop as the...

Re: Examples of good use of Goto, in AHK Topic is solved

Because AutoHotkey has Gosub, Return, Goto, and labels the behavior is a bit different, and you get some interesting options. You don't usually need Goto to jump to a label, but the option is up to the programmer. Goto is arguably best used as a final jump out of a function (which contains multiple ...

Fuchsia, Google's Java Killer

It's no secret that Google and Oracle have been battling in court about Java ( https://www.ciodive.com/news/google-oracle-supreme-court-copyright/574043/ ). But meanwhile, Google hasn't been idle and sitting on their hands. A new OS to replace Android and any need to use Java is on standby. This inc...

Re: imagesearch can not find the image I just captured

A couple of things that can be done to help ImageSearch work better. 1. Use *n (variation) . https://www.autohotkey.com/docs/commands/ImageSearch.htm The variation can be adjusted between 0 to 255. Helps if coloring of the image varies slightly and compensates for differences between ImageFile forma...

Re: Plugin Window Topic is solved

You need to crop that image so it's within the bounds of the button itself for the reason described in my last post. Best to make the image just around the letters. In what directory is the script file that you are running? That's where you put the image. Otherwise, you can specify the full path to...

Re: Please God Why?

I really wish people would get out of the habit of blaming the programming language when the problem is usually staring at them in the mirror. And AutoHotkey has several ways to compensate for lacking some feature or a perceived limitation (which may not be the case and the person needs to actually ...

The Dart Language: When Java and C# Aren't Sharp Enough

Interesting read, though the strategy of Google promoting a number of other languages can be perplexing. They have Go and Kotlin too, which are doing well for themselves.

Re: AHK Compiler By DLG

Samantha I don't mind the interface either. Looks like you were having fun. A new compiler, with new features, can be appreciated by many. However, creating an .exe only version with no source code and then to have it download from Mediafire, will likely be taken by many people in the wrong way. Es...
