Download v1. To run an external script (non-compiled), you may use this example script I wrote up a while ago...
I have not seen your post before I sent my previous message. I'll take a look at it a little later. Thanks Masonjar13.

Re: Avoid flicker when using the Run command for a background task

If I get you right, I could try to change all cursors to the normal image using SetSystemCursor. I'll try it. I tried it and had interesting results. I added some code from Gio to change the cursor to the original code: #NoEnv #SingleInstance force MsgBox, Click OK to start.`n`nPress Alt-Q to stop....

Re: Avoid flicker when using the Run command for a background task

AutoHotkey does not create its hidden window in a visible state and does not show or activate the window unless the user or the script requests it, so if this has anything to do with focus issues, do-nothing.ahk isn't the cause. You can't hide a hidden window. Thanks for this clarification lexikos....

This program does not create a window. There is nothing to minimize or hide.

Re: Avoid flicker when using the Run command for a background task

I get my cursor changing to the partial wait cursor when hovering over certain area of the screen, but no screen flicker. Thanks for checking punchin. It is not the whole screen that flicks but only some windows (or sub-windows). I guess this is when these windows refresh after having lose and rega...

Re: Avoid flicker when using the Run command for a background task

I use a setup similar to this, quite regularly, with no performance issues. Can you explain your environment? General computer specs would help, especially the core/thread count. I would not call it a performance issue. More a UI/visual issue. Have you tested my script? Do you see the mouse pointer...

Thank you for your input, Weedfanatic. Unfortunately, it had no impact. I tried various options. I also added the process name in my real app (dopusrt.exe) with the same result.

Avoid flicker when using the Run command for a background task

In my program, I want to run a silent background task to collect or refresh info about the system state (in real life, running the Directory Opus utility DOpusRt to collect the list of folders open in DOpus) every x seconds. In this sample dummy code, a background task runs every two seconds. For th...

Re: Code signing certificates for AHK compiled scripts

It may or may not reduce the risk of false positives. I doubt that every antivirus cares about digital signatures and "Microsoft Authenticode", but if you're specifically concerned about MSE and Defender, it might help. It might reduce the risk of "red flags", like Microsoft's SmartScreen service p...

Re: Code signing certificates for AHK compiled scripts

To follow-up about the thread mentioned by Guest, yes, Mr Joe knows. This thread answered most of my questions. The author of the OP had issue with its signed compiled file but this was related to using an incorrect version of the AutoHotkey runtime, not about the signing itself. One question remain...

Code signing certificates for AHK compiled scripts

I distribute freeware AHK apps compiled with Ahk2Exe. More and more often, users installalling one of the apps receive malware alerts from their protection software. To prevent this, I want to sign my exe compiled files with a certificate. Does anybody here has experience with this? From my research...

Ternary expression as ByRef parameter

I was wondering how would react a function with ByRef paramater when the fuction is called with a ternary expression as parameter ( MyFunction(condition ? valueA : valueB) ). My tests showed that ternary operators are supported in a byref parameters. The variable that is selected by the ternary oper...

Re: AHK menu not closed when clicking elsewhere or pressing Esc

@Lexikos This thread could have ended after I confirmed that the command DllCall("SwitchToThisWindow", "UInt", A_ScriptHwnd, "UInt", 1) was working and I should have keep the side-effects for my own investigation somewhere in thousands lines of code. You are right, I was not clear and, again, I'm so...

Re: AHK menu not closed when clicking elsewhere or pressing Esc

That's my question. Since you've overridden AHK_NOTIFYICON, how do I know which GUI is displayed when you double-click the tray icon? A_ScriptHwnd is not a "GUI" in the sense of the GUI command; it is the window which is displayed by ListVars, ListHotkeys, etc. or double-clicking the tray icon if y...

Re: AHK menu not closed when clicking elsewhere or pressing Esc

What do you mean by "the main script GUI"? I mean the GUI displayed when you double-click the script's tray icon. Is it the same as A_ScriptHwnd? Is the AHK_NOTIFYICON function actually being called? Yes. It is called when user click the tray icon to display the app's menu. If it only happens while...

Re: AHK menu not closed when clicking elsewhere or pressing Esc

An update on this issue. Good news! The command DllCall("SwitchToThisWindow", "UInt", A_ScriptHwnd, "UInt", 1) seems to work. I say "seems" because it has been tested only by one user (and I can only rarely reproduce the issue myself on my systems). There is only one thing to look at. It seems that ...
