Re: Getting CLSID or SpecialFolderConstant of an Explorer ob

Let me explain what I want to to: I want to save info about the group of Explorer instances (screen position/size and current folder) in order to allow the user to re-open this group (restoring Explorer windows position and content). Saving position is easy. Saving the current path works well with t...

Getting CLSID or SpecialFolderConstant of an Explorer object

Hi, Considering this code: For pExplorer in ComObjCreate("Shell.Application").Windows ; see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa752084(v=vs.85).aspx { strType := "" try strType := pExplorer.Type ; Gets the user type name of the contained document object. "Document HTML" for IE ...

Trigger action on submenu?

I would think it is not possible but you never know what you can discover until you as a question on this forum 8-)

When a menu has submenus, is it possible to trigger an action only when a submenu is opened? For example, refreshing this submenu?

Re: How to display a folder's properties window?

Ah! The issue was with the first WinWait command. The window name was not recognized because of the SetTitleMatchMode mode. Now this works: SetTitleMatchMode, 2 Run, Properties %A_AppDataCommon% SplitPath, A_AppDataCommon, MyDir ; Don't use "Properties" to work in other Windows locales. Only use the...

Re: How to display a folder's properties window?

Hummm... In the first script above, it seems that WinWaitClose does not detect when the Properties window is closed. The script keeps running until I kill the process.

Re: How to display a folder's properties window?

Found two solutions: From the Run doc: Note: The properties window will automatically close when the script terminates. To prevent this, use WinWait to wait for the window to appear, then use WinWaitClose to wait for the user to close it. Run, Properties %A_ScriptDir% SplitPath, A_ScriptDir, MyDir ;...

Re: How to display a folder's properties window?

Oops! I tough this would do the job: Run, Properties %A_ScriptDir%, , , PID Sleep, 1000 WinWaitClose, ahk_pid %PID% But it seems the Properties command could not set the PID. Doc says: The variable will be made blank if the PID could not be determined, which usually happens if a system verb, documen...

Re: How to display a folder's properties window?

Great. I was to follow up with what I've found here (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/oldnewthing/archive/2008/05/28/8555658.aspx) but the "properties" command is exactly when I need. I guess I'll have to add a WinWaitClose command to wait for the user to close the Properties window. I'll be back with someth...

How to display a folder's properties window?

Is there a Windows command-line command (to call with Run), a DllCall or COM object that would allow me to display the properties window of a given folder? I've found this but the info there looks outdated: http://www.autohotkey.com/board/topic/33233-file-properties-summary-author-subject-comments-e...

Re: FileGetShortcut error when drive removed - even w/ Try-C

Grrr... I was not able to reproduce the issue on PC #2 (same PC, same external drive, same script...). I have no idea of what changed since Friday... I hate these intermittent bugs... I can assure that I'm not the only one having this issue. It has been reported a few times on my blog by users of my...

Re: 4 options to change the current folder in Windows Explor

Hum... Interesting. So much work for something that should just be working in the first time... I suppose this is not the first time you have to work that hard around a Windows bug :-) I adapted my code to use SendInput command with {Raw} option instead of the ControlSetText approach that is now irr...

Re: FileGetShortcut error when drive removed - even w/ Try-C

Ofcourse!... I had to test before I posted. :) It works great, thanks. Just bad that Win XP does not see it. I'll have two options: keep FileGetShortcut if the DllCall avoid the error message on my PC #2, or use the WMI approach keeping FileGetShortcut for XP only. This would at least circumscribe ...

Re: FileGetShortcut error when drive removed - even w/ Try-C

You may use the following to retrieve Recent folder's path in AHK 1.0 and 1.1 : Thanks for the RegRead hint, Skan! Always glad to replace 9 lines of code with one and produce more reliable code! WMI provides an alternate way to retrieve target file from shortcut with Win32_ShortcutFile , but recent...

It is so great to have you around Lexikos. I'll have to wait until Monday to test this command on my PC #2. But it seems to be exactly what I needed. Thanks!

Re: FileGetShortcut error when drive removed - even w/ Try-C

Thanks for joining the discussion Nextron. Are you sure FileGetShortcut is throwing the error? Not the directory parsing loop trying to set some built-in variable based on the non-existent target of the shortcut, rather than the shortcut itself? The error occurs just after the MsgBox command, during...

Re: FileGetShortcut error when drive removed - even w/ Try-C

This being said, I appreciate your help to find a workaround, JoeDF. But, my app being quite largely distributes, I would prefer to stay with recommended commands and understand why the same script on 2 similar machines behave differently... My questions: A) Can you reproduce the scenario 5.2? b) Fo...

Re: FileGetShortcut error when drive removed - even w/ Try-C

Oh, I see. I got you wrong. Using a text editor (that can red binary files), I tried to open the Recent items folder to look at file's content but Windows is preventing me from doing this. I tried on 2 PCs where I have admin access. I hav not try via an AHK script yet. On your side can you open thes...

Re: 4 options to change the current folder in Windows Explor

Your Send code fails because # is the modifier symbol for the Win key. You can use {#} or SendRaw c:\delete#me`n (not {Enter} ) instead. Thanks for jumping in Lekikos. Yes, I realized that later in my AHK learning curve :-) . Just forgot to update this thread about it. However, window.Navigate("C:\...
