Re: Script needs to be re-run at every restart

That is intended behaviour. AHK hotkeys are only active while the script runs - and thus can be easily reversed, in case something goes wrong; it doesn't write to the registry, eg. But you can add a shortcut to your script to your startup folder, if you like: https://www.autohotkey.com/docs/FAQ.htm#...

Off topic page should have some opptopic chat
Or AHK Discord server (see link at the top of the page) has an active offtopic general chat channel (and also programming and gaming offtopic (non-AHK) channels) - if that's what you are asking for.

Re: Can't get settimer to work

Can you please just clarify or go away? I'm seriously tired of these intentionally cryptic responses. I don't know what that link is telling me that gives me an answer. Is it saying I need to write my label first and then my settimer....guess I have to try it out...nope. You know what, don't even t...

Re: Is lexikos still maintaining AHK?

lexikos regularly took longer breaks in the past. That's nothing new or unusual - no need for theories, or panic. No forum member needs to announce anything or to check in regularly - as if people don't take breaks, or lose interest, or simply have other things to do from time to time. btw you can f...

Re: XBox One Controller - Guide Button programming

probably related: Added proper validation for vk or sc key names, so names such as "sc01notvalid" are no longer recognized as keys. Scripts containing hotkeys of the form VKnnSCnnn:: will need to be corrected by removing SCnnn , which was previously ignored. So, I would just try the VK part: VK07::

Re: XBox One Controller - Guide Button programming

Try just the SC or the VK part.
Iirc, the combined syntax of both parts is no longer valid in current AHK versions (and was actually unnecessary).

Re: Forums Slow to load

Whenever I have problems visiting sites it always seems to be related to cloudflare. I've noticed that too. It could also mean that cloudflare is actually working and that otherwise the server/website might have crashed already without it, under an attack. It's not that cloudflare is perfect, but t...

Re: Forums Slow to load

For me, it working better now. I don't get timeouts anymore, although the forum is certainly not very fast. But I can work with it. On the other hand, cloudflare is definitely differentiating between IPs and other factors. So, people might be affected by it in different amounts. I am probably lucky,...

Re: Forums Slow to load

It was certainly a cloudflare page, I have seen it, too, but only sporadically. cloudflare helps - amoung other things - to keep websites safe from DDoS and other attacks. Like joedf mentioned above, he saw some unusual activities and therefore upped cloudflare's settings which might - for the momen...

Re: Script can't check for updates Topic is solved

Unfortunately, cloudflare is necessary - and its settings had to be upped today because of ongoing attacks (which hopefully won't continue for a longer period) to keep these forums functional. So, hopefully, it might return to work again soon. But we will have to see. You could probably adapt the sc...

Re: Forums Slow to load

You mean the use of a picture of Salma Hayek in one of his videos? The depiction of a dressed woman (however it could be considered sexually evocative ) is already out of bounds ? Anyway, I don't see the connection to forum avatars and emoticons, which I talked about - and it's in his own youtube vi...

Re: Forums Slow to load

joedf, thank you for looking into it! But yes it seems avatar images are lagging... It's a good reason to eliminate this kiddish trash. ;) That seems a bit harsh! At least , it can be a good visual cue when quickly scanning a long topic. That said, I can still enjoy some "trash". We have people here...

Re: What are these commands for help me?

CurrentKeyDelay is a random variable name, A_KeyDelay is a built-in variable (click it to find in the docs) - and SetKeyDelay is a command related to this latter variable (please click it to find its docs page). But there are syntax problems in these two lines. The assignment operator := can't have...

Re: COM/IE/IEGet

IEGet() is no built-in function, but a user-defined function which needs to be added to the script code to be available for function calls . In theory, it can contain anything - IEGet , though, floats in some variants on the forums, and usually tries to connect with an already open Internet Explore...

Re: Forums Slow to load

The problem just came back for me. Sometimes it loads fast, but too often it times out at 30+ seconds and I'll land on a Cloudflare 522 page. But if this topic page here actually loads slowly (10-20 seconds) - your avatars (joedf's and PuzzledGreatly's) are timing out: Repeatedly, they get a 522 sta...

Re: ControlSend, issues regarding special characters and reliability

Insight into if down and up events apply would be useful. in my understanding, {text} mode does not translate a character to single key events, but actually sends a character instead (with a different Windows API function than the default; ControlSend uses then WM_CHAR internally, iirc; for this me...

Re: ControlSend, issues regarding special characters and reliability

You could @lso try {text} mode (requires AHK v1.1.27+) with ControlSend (usually, I have better results with it than with raw mode):

Code: Select all

ControlSend, , {text}%char%, ahk_pid %win_pid%
I think, down and up events don't apply to this send mode, though.

Not joedf here, but since I saw you trying to post a number of external links that not had much to do with AutoHotkey or the respective to...
