Menu commands convenience

To avoid having to constantly repeat the MenuItemName parameter in many Menu commands (like Icon, Enable/Disable, Check/Uncheck, etc.), couldn't an omitted MenuItemName be interpreted as a reference to the last item Added to the referenced menu? ... or even, more generally, to the last explicitly referenced menu item? I don't think this would introduce any syntactic issues.
