I like to learn languages on the go with apps like babbel or duolingo. If you do that on a daily basis, you get on well.

Learning a language by going to clubs?
Or did I misinterpret the meaning of clubbing?

- Great clip garry thanks.
- In English, I like quotation books and lists of idioms/proverbs (wise phrases). So similar lists in German would be great, be they quotes translated to German, or original German quotes.

I'm trying to pick up russian here, using Living Language's The Basics - Russian and duolingo. The book is very good for actual rules, writing, pronunciation, etc. Duolingo is great for casual practice. :+1:

I know another resource that is really useful to practice speaking.
There are listening parts and then practicing parts.
The nice side of it is the page is completely free. I strongly recommend it.

I found that actually going to the country of the language which you want to learn is the best way. I wanted to learn Portuguese to join a start-up and i struggled for weeks to learn. Then one trip to Lisbon for three weeks and i picked up so many expressions and street language, when i came back i was actually able to have small conversation and then my language learning just picked up. I also kept some penpals from there and kept practicing with them. Of course just going somewhere new could be scary, i found this cool guide to Lisbon though [Mod edit: Link removed.] you can find something similar for some city in germany?

go for it man! you'll never waste your many travelling.

I’ve been to Lisbon several times and would love to live there. Bc I'm actually living close to Frankfurt/Main (Central Germany/Europe) I can lend you a hand researching German stuff. CU 8-)
