https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newspeak wrote:Newspeak is the fictional language of Oceania, a totalitarian superstate that is the setting of George Orwell's dystopian 1949 novel Nineteen Eighty-Four. To meet the ideological requirements of English Socialism (Ingsoc) in Oceania, the ruling Party created Newspeak,[1] a controlled language of simplified grammar and restricted vocabulary, meant to limit the freedom of thought—personal identity, self-expression, free will—that threatens the ideology of the régime of Big Brother and the Party, who have criminalised such concepts into thoughtcrime as contradictions of Ingsoc orthodoxy.
To put these two quotes in relation feels like a stretch, especially if you happen to quote George Orwell - a few comments (just in case this comparison was meant seriously ).

If your utterances are deemed "newsworthy", you get a pass.guest3456 wrote: ↑05 Jul 2020, 18:29i wasnt commenting on the twitter platform directly.. that list was from their engineering team, probably for their internal docs and codebase. certainly they aren't going to censor their users who tweet on their platform (yet?)

May we think of freedom, not as the right to do as we please, but as the opportunity to do what is right.
