I will believe it, when such standards become mandatory for the plastic industry to comply with and is in widespread use in stores. Even then, as far as the biodegradable plastics or normal plastics are concerned, there is the other heath issue of it contaminating our food and drink. People are ingesting plastic particles and chemicals at insane levels as well. Until we are using safer and biocompatible alternatives to plastic, where toxic chemicals from the plastics are not leaking into the food and drink, it will still be a health issue. Though I guess we can at least reach a point where we are not dumping unmeasurable tons of plastic bottles in our oceans and killing our own food supply (which isn't smart) and all sorts of marine life.
