Windows 10

http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2 ... 10-release

because 7 ate 9

anyway, Windows 8 is an extremely solid OS, so I imagine that Win10 will be successful now that they're working out the stupid UI issues

good demo video here:

If you have legitimate criticism, go for it. I doubt you do. If you haven't even used it, or are gonna just whine and repeat what you've read about an extra click to get out of the Start Screen/Metro Interface, save it.

Just some things: technical details, such as hugely improved startup time, and way better memory management and usage. Everything feels faster and more responsive. This alone is reason to stay. The DWM is now always on, instead of requiring an Aero theme to be chosen. Then some really useful features: power user menu (win+x), built in mounting of ISO files, right click folder -> open in new window (so trivial yet so useful).

I don't usually upgrade to the newest because I don't like major changes. But my drive crashed so I took a chance. The Metro interface took about 30 minutes to learn how to get out of, and then the experience is exactly the same.

solid yes practical to a typical desktop user in a business environment less than win7

I use Windows 8 with Start8 and like it more than other versions of Windows. Without Start8 I can't use it and don't understand it. Metro is worst thing that happened to Windows on desktop systems.

If you have legitimate criticism, go for it. I doubt you do.
My Updater broke so I cannot update to Win 8.
Also it seems that due to a broken Updater a huge amount of Bug Fixes aren't being applied.
This includes lot of stuff that makes win 8 useable with old programs like all of my programs.
But the thing where they fucked up most is the Taskmanager.
That fucking useless piece of shit that takes 40 seconds till one minute to open because these fucking cunts stuffed it silly.
My PC is not slow at all. It's just the OS that makes it slow.
such as hugely improved startup time
Just by not completely shutting the system down.
built in mounting of ISO files
I have always used a different program for that and I will keep using it.
That's one of the cons of Win 8. Stuff that no one needs, yet uses up your system space and stuff.

A lot of programs don't work because I'm using 8 not 8.1, but I cannot update.

Yeah the Task Manager is a bit slower to open. But 40s-1m seems ridic, unless you have a million spyware processes running. Mine has like a 1s delay opening and closing..
My PC is not slow at all. It's just the OS that makes it slow.
If you ran any objective comparison, with the same software installed, and the same services/processes running, you will find that Win8 is faster than Win7
such as hugely improved startup time
Just by not completely shutting the system down.
Fair enough. But I haven't run into one issue yet with the fast shutdown/startup. And even when I do shut down fully (hold Shift during shutdown), then computer still starts up faster from a full cold boot than before.
A lot of programs don't work because I'm using 8 not 8.1, but I cannot update.
I had no time to update to 8.1 until recently like last week. Before that everything still worked fine. But yeah obviously you always want to keep Windows Update running, but this is true for any version of Windows

Anyway, your choice
