I understand why people use it, but ... Google Chrome's browser current domination isn't looking good for the "web"... for various reasons... :?

I've just moved to the newest version of EDGE in my 6yr old slower HTPC.
Its considerably faster than Chrome and seemingly uses less memory. I'm missing some of the useful chrome extensions, though.
uBlockOrigin is available and most of the websites I browse are unaware of it... Thats a plus.. at least for now.
I'm too addicted to Google search and should move out of it soon.

@joedf
@SKAN
Thanks, will try EDGE

example with google search
depending language and country you get different result :
Google don't like when you send many parameters , if often send asks for CAPTCHA :
Our systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network.
This page checks to see if it's really you sending the requests, and not a robot.
Why did this happen?

Certain keywords or keyphrases might trigger anti-spam measures.

Also chromium edge seems promising. I've been using firefox as my main since the days of netscape.
I use many browsers, they all have their merits but using straight chrome as a main, whether it's with the best of intentions or not ... may lead to another IE-fiasco.

@garry !!! I am SO SORRY! I GOOFED! I've never had this happen. I thought I was writing a post but was editing yours :? :?
I thought I clicked 'quote/reply" but I must have clicked edit by mistake. I tried to bring back what I could :(

the browser wars shows maxthon in the thumbnail (to the right of Opera) but it never makes the chart :( clickbait. I used that for years. it has an hours tracker, think I stopped around 15k
rawr. fear me.

Ahh yes maxthon, very cool and unique, but sadly died around v4 i think... :think:

Edit: looks like there was a chromium revival with v5 ?

kinda. with every ne version (v1, v2, ..., v5) they basically completely rewrote it. removing a lot of nice features to maybe later re-add them. 4.8? nice and feature rich. 5.0? bare bones :|

but it was a dual-browser, 2 engines in one. 1 was IE, 1 was a not-really-chromium. no official chrome addon support, probably an old stripped down version of chrome, and they broke IE COM stuff. all my COM crap no longer worked, tossed errors. Then I realized it was probably Maxthon. Simply uninstalling maxthon didn't fix it. Thats when I said goodbye, sadly. was a PITA getting COM working again
rawr. fear me.

not only men ....
when I listen swiss/german radio I must hear always 2 words ( instead of one ) in nearly each sentence : dear "Zuhörer und Zuhörerinnen " etc... ( dear listeners and female listeners )
english seems easier ...
