Petri dishes.

When you look at stuff under a microscope and you have a dish/tray, why don't you ever see the dish itself? You can get crazy zoom levels with a microscope but you never see the platform its sitting on, just the tiny cells/bacteria/whatever. What if you wanted to see the structure of the tray/dish with the microscope? Would you need to put a petri dish in a petri dish?
