This was a long time coming. Fry's started shutting down stores in August 2019. At the same time (and before), they stopped restocking inventory in some of the stores in order to save money. I remember going to one of the stores in August 2019. The store was open but the shelves were almost bare. I asked one of the few people there if they were having a "going out of business" sale? He said no. He tried to assure me that they were going to restock but I don't think that he believed it. The little that was left on the shelves was still at full price so there was no incentive to do any bargain shopping. I never went back. At the time, the message boards used by Fry's employees were full of speculation. Management was telling them little or nothing. I think COVID killed Fry's but they were dying already.garry wrote: ↑18 Feb 2021, 07:252021-02-24 FRY's ELECTRONICS announced plans to close all remaining stores, effective immediately

On February 24, 2021, Fry's announced plans to close all remaining stores, effective immediately.
For me, Fry's demise (as was Radio Shack's) is another symptom of America's apparent mission to "Stop Making Things" (with companies like Boeing being on a sub-mission, "Stop Making Things that Don't Go Bump in the Night").jballi wrote: ↑26 Feb 2021, 17:52This was a long time coming.
