AHK and Windows 10

09 Mar 2019, 08:22

Hi guys,

I'm still on Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit, but I'm more or less forced to move to Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit.

Important for me is that I can still use AHK (my current version 1.1.29.00 is fully enoug for me.)
From what I understood is that on Windows 10 it's more difficult to use Windows internal shortcuts for AHK.
Let's say something like Windows+E.
For me that wouldn't be a problem because I don't use such keyboard combinations for my scripts.

What I use AHK mostly for is:
- activating scripts by combinations like F16+F17 (until F24), to be able to access G keys of Logitech
- changing desktop wallpaper via dll call (very important, because it shows all scripts for the current application!!)
- running applications via hotkeys
- simple key re-mappings for games (for example: < = o)
- running batch files to get duration of media files (MediaInfo batch)
- simple macros for specific programs (moving mouse cursor, sending keys)
- Excel and Word-COM usage (I'm still on 2007, I'll probably upgrade to newer versions)
- checking if process is running (via Process, wait) and depending on the result executing different functions
- working with GDIP to draw lines or rectanges on the screen, or to create screenshots from Excel clipboards
- having a GUI which lists me folders, documents etc. which I often use
- having GUIs which show instructions for specifc modes (#if blocks)
- reading and writing inside of the Registry (e.g. to toggle hidden files)
- some more things I currently don't remember

Do you think/know if all this stuff will work on Windows 10 Pro 64 as well?
Or are there some known limitations which might affect my usage?

Thanks for any help!
