Proposing new AHK banners

28 Feb 2023, 11:59

Hi,
I recently noticed that the banner on the AHK forums still displays a banner logo that belongs to AHK V1, not V2.
So, I quickly put together this banner, which I propose to replace the banner image with.
In my proposal, instead of the banner of the forum looking like this:
Image
It would look like this:
Image
The site favicon would change from looking like this: Image to this: Image.
On the homepage, (autohotkey.com) we could also replace the header image with this:
Image
What do you think?
Should we change the icon? :?:

P.S. Sorry about the random logo sizes in this post.

The logo hasn't changed since 2012 (I think...) :p

Not sure, we should change it...

I like the old (current) banner better. I don't see how it's not suited for v2.

the monochrome logo seems pretty version agnostic to me. not sure what gave u the impression it was intended for v1 exclusively
good effort on the new logo, but that green is too gaudy for the forum ui

Here's the file icon for AHK V1: Image
Now here's the AHK forum banner: Image
These kind of look similar, (in my opinion), but my logo looks much more like the V2 file icon: Image (sorry about the second icon).
Shouldn't we change this icon as a symbol of V2 being the new official version?

Green icons were already a part of AHK v1. That's nothing new. It's just doesn't look good on these forums, imo.
The traditional logo looks acceptable on all forum themes. I would probably block the green one, if I would see it on the dark theme I am using.

I agree that using the bright green logo on the blue background of the dark theme I use would not look good (and likely the same on the other dark themes). Also, the current logo is made up of the keyboard keys A, H, K, which is the point of the logo. The green ones don't look like keys. While I appreciate the enthusiasm, I don't think this is something that should be changed.

Ok, guess we'll leave the old banner then. :(

@lmstearn
I like your new file icon, but I would make the 2 slightly bigger as it might be hard to see. :)

If you’re now talking about the icons to use within AHK v2 itself as opposed to the forum banners, there have been many proposed icons and a lot of discussion, and lexikos implemented what he decided upon already. There aren’t going to be any changes to them at this point.

Apologies- the large icon display threw me- yes the V2 icon was decided upon some time ago.
@Ben G: Yes certainly, perhaps for another thread, though.
The idea is for the banners to be clearly visible in all the themes, if you can come up with a meaningful and tasteful colour combo that blends in those a little better, folks are sure to be interested in something new. :)
