It's a nice-to-have, but not necessary. Not that we have low funds, but I am not sure we can justify getting another domain if we value longevity.
for example, python.fr or scala-lang.fr are unregistered, php.fr looks like it has broken ssl cert or is malicious and golang.fr seems to be taken by an individual.

Can you please remove the list of bad actors? It's so hard to resist typing that url into my address bar :headwall:

www. hotkey .com is definitely malicious!

Why even link to it? What has "hotkey" - or that specific page - to do with autohotkey? 🤷‍♂️

I don't know, but if somebody makes a typo and puts that URL in, then it's best to be warned.
You can take my post down if you like.

That's okay, thanks for sharing anyway. I think just having not clickable is okay for now.

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=71010#p308683 That site was previously mentioned and is clickable?

There is not much on it anyway, afaics (but I unlinked it now) - at least with deactivated javascript. There is a 'domain for sale' ad, though.
I doesn't look like at all like autohotkey.com. I think it was only mentioned as an example for a supposedly "similar" domain name before, not as an actual fake autohotkey site.
Still I would not recommend to hang out there. :problem:

There are several oriental sites, including: https://www.autoahk.com (I have more, but I don't have them located now)

Checked out your link. Probably don't go anywhere other than autohotkey.com as it could be malware. You could also check the site with Norton Safeweb.

Wasn't the post about collecting unofficial sites? It is not malware, nor do I guarantee that it is a totally clean site, nothing that a browser extension such as "uBlock Origin" cannot solve.

Afaics, this topic was originally about malicious impersonator websites. autoahk is afaik just a chinese website about AHK; it doesn't try to create the impression of being us (like autohotkey.fr did) - we even link to it on our frontpage (scroll to the bottom).
Like tank explained, taking a korean forum as an example for an accepted forum:

It was bound to happen and perhaps it has been going on for quite some time. Unofficial sites that look like us but are not.

AutoHotkey is of course open source and anyone may fork it and host their own site. We happily acknowledge and support this.
this korean fork is an example. They are their own entity entirely separate from us and we co-exist peacefully. They refer downloads back to us as the official version. Most importantly they do not pretend to be us.

this thread is about warning ppl that we do not own or have affiliation nor are we responsible for anything but autohotkey.com.

In times of rush..., of not stopping to read in excess, the title is ambiguous, it should be "UNOFFICIAL Autohotkey Sites, which you should not visit" (or "which we do not answer for").

i never suggested dont visit unofficial. i said post them. I said when we are sure of a bad actor i will call it out.

I also said there needs to be clarity about which domains we own vs forks
