Google Chrome AHK tab freeze vs "Select All" button with big content in code box

10 Mar 2019, 18:03

Hey,

I noticed that the Select All button on the Code Box will make Google Chrome freeze all the time if the content inside the code box has a big amount of lines.
For example, when copying a fully working script example, the Select All button will not be able to select the text if too big and it will freeze chrome.
If its mid size it will wait like 2 seconds before you can see the selection happens.

this script by hellbent is big enough to reproduce this behavior for me all the time :

Try clicking the select all

Edit: freeze was probably too intense i should rather say it freeze THAT chrome tab and not the whole chrome browser. I can only close the AHK tab and reload the website on a new tab without force quit chrome

No issue with Firefox, which shifts blame onto Chrome rather than the forum. Not entirely, just more likely.

You could also be running out of RAM, virtual or physical, or have a slow RAM speed. Lots of potential issues, honestly.

Impossible that the problem is my computer to be honest. For example, BattleField V runs smoothly with top specs is ok so not the Select All function going to break it :D

It started happening since their is nicer indention and color formatting might be linked?

Impossible
If there is something like an add on mis-configured your specs are meaningless.

ok now this i was able to duplicate but i rather think it has more to do with over 3200 lines of code loading

Delay is present on Firefox as well, noticed that immediately, but isn't related to the "Select All" button. Doesn't affect my browser either, just the document data/object.

You're saying I can't download/cache text instantaneously? Seems like a stretch ;)

AdBlocker deleted, cisco webex that was turned off is deleted now too : This is the error message i egt from chrome (in french):

EDIT: will update when testing Themes:

OK!
so,
- DigiDarkBlue2 fails each time with Hellbent's code box and SelectAll
- Digi fails too

- Simplicity default theme is working and takes less than 100ms to select all.

So the problem seems to be linked with other themes. For now I'll use simplicity :)
