This is what Wireshark shows on my end:


After clicking on any forum link a few times in about one second intervals, the server finally stops sending RST segments and loads the webpage. After reading this, I have a suspicion that the spam filtering mechanism is too strict.

Another thing occurred when I clicked 'Preview':

The post could be submitted after a different IP address was used.

It looks like some external website is queried for spamming IP addresses and that website blocks certain IP addresses about half of the time.

That site or any other site is not queried on page loads from this server.. your system is doing something quite bizarre and seems to be triggering the countermeasures as a bot would.
What browser and add ons and os do you use

i grepped the entire forum directory for spamhaus.org. i was surprised to find references to it. it appears that it is used for dns lookups but not as part of any of the spam controls

i have disabled the lookups entirely I have my own spam countermeasures and these certainly never helped

Well, I'm using

• Windows XP SP3, 32bit with latest updates
• Firefox 29.0.1, AdBlock Plus and Stylish from the ones that are 'relevant'

As for the browser, it doesn't really matter - I get RST responses on IE/Firefox/Chrome. I've also disabled the third-party firewall just to be sure it doesn't interfere.

At first, I've thought that the _banned_ IP from the second screenshot was due to _Imgur_ blocking some unwanted IP addresses (I'm using a mobile phone connection with a dynamic, public IP). But if that was the case, then I wouldn't would see parts of the text of the post I was previewing. Also, I recall that the imgur link to the first picture _did_ work when I entered the link manually in the address bar of the browser.

I only got the 'banned' message once (today). OTOH the RST rejects I get constantly.

The second IP address I've used to successfully upload the post was from the pool of IP addresses of the operator of the GSM card (just like the first IP address - I just had two SIM cards from the same operator).

The RST responses aren't really that instantaneous (should have checked that earlier...). The ping to ahkscript.org is about 250ms on average.

i dont think the ping is all that bad trans-atlantic. but i really did completely disable the lookups and checked the log for your ip address

how long are pages taking to load for you right now?

Speed is OK for me now but still the quick reply doesn't work and neither do the reply code buttons.
