How to mark a topic "SOLVED"?

26 May 2016, 19:56

I am looking for the option for the past half hour to mark a post SOLVED, and couldn't figure it out. What gives?

We don't have that here, what we usually do is edit the first post and add [SOLVED] in the title :p

this seems to no longer be correct. I see issues clearly marked SOLVED with a nice GREEN checkbox. Presumably, an upgrade made this possible. But, I still can't figure out how to mark an issued SOLVED.

Oh yes sorry, i installed a plug-in a while back. on each post there are small buttons like quote, etc. One of them is Accept this answer. But the icon might be screwed up. I’ll take a look. May I know what theme you are ys No? I’ll check all three, but just so i can post a screenshot if need be. :+1:

I just noticed before reading your post, that the icon was white on white... I have changed this.
try this link to see what it looks like, the check mark is only available for Ask For help and a few other sections.

EDIT: Also, I have imported over my highlightsolved.js plugin over to prosilver too
EDIT2: digi also now.

your link took me to: https://autohotkey.com/boards/viewtopic ... 13&style=1

is that the right spot? It is a topic by PORTWOLF about convert to function. I see nothing there that looks like an icon for marking as closed.

If I am not the author, would I have the icon? Afterall, why should anyone other than the author be allowed to mark an item as closed? (or a moderator, of course)

Sorry my bad, I tried the page with your account permission and apparently the icon doesn't show... even If I have it enable for all registered users...
I guess it's only moderators and admins?

well, mods & admins makes sense. But, the author surely should that authority.

When I'm browsing around sometimes looking for people who need help, it's certainly nice if a topic is marked solved. One BIG problem with the forum is that there are SO MANY requests made for help. Yes, people are lazy and don't explore enough. But, I get help and I like to offer it too (although, I can be a little bit blunt and unforgiving).

so, can the add-on be changed?

maybe this issue should be addressed to phpbb vendor.

This would have to be implemented the plugin author... but yes, I do agree that the post author should be able to ...

Need I make a formal suggestion (and if so where) in regards to having the author have the ability to set as SOLVED a
post?

I just tested. The setting has 3 options: Yes | Yes, Moderator | No
Yes, is the post author. So this is already the case. Already implemented as so.

I still don't see this "ACCEPT" option anywhere. I logged out and logged back in. Still no luck. And, interestinly, someone marked THIS topic as SOLVED. That was not me.

Where is this box supposed to be? I am using Firefox 62.0.3. on Win 7 Pro Service Level 1. I'm only using about a half dozen FF addons.

you are not the author of THIS topic. I had marked it SOLVED to see if it still works...

Can we maybe take away the awful green border and shading for the answer to a thread on the digi theme?

I can change it, but removing it would make it hard to find the answer visually...

What? Everyone hates it? :(
It's been on simplicity for at least a year or even more... and now people say something? :(
As I've said, I am open to suggest for changes, but removing it removes clarity as to which post is the "answer"...
