move message from Outbox to Sent messages

- I have a message in my Outbox, that's been there for ages. (A message that I've sent, but that the recipient hasn't yet read.) They messaged me and I replied, but I doubt they'll log in again, or otherwise it could be many months.
- Is there a way to move it to Sent messages? (Messages that I've sent, that the recipients have read.)
- Also, if the user ever does read it, is there a way to confirm that? Thanks.

- [EDIT:] I suppose you could confirm by checking whether the Edit button is available or not.

It wasn't sent unless the user picks it out of your outbox

- Hmm, if I put a letter into the postbox, and it ends up through their letterbox, but they haven't opened it yet, I still sent the message.

- Curious terminology, although I kind of like it.
- Outbox (you sent it, they haven't read it).
- Sent messages (you sent it, they have read it).

- Basically, I'd like 'Outbox (3)', to say 'Outbox (2)', (some users never login,) i.e. to ignore a minor thank you message, or to even manually clear persistent unread messages entirely. If that's possible.

If the recipient hasn't opened the message, it hasn't been delivered to the recipient. It just sits on the server, right where it was the moment after you submitted it. If they have opened the message, that doesn't mean they've read it, but it's certainly been delivered.

The postal analogy doesn't work in this case because there's only one box. You put it into the box, they take it out of the box (or not).
