Yellow user names

Hi,

It looks like a pretty new feature.
Freshly registered users now have a bold yellow color.
To be honest it's pretty confusing (to me) because normally only admins, mods, supporters have special fonts.

In my opinion, it was better without the yellow colors.
(No offense )

What do the others here say?

I like it myself, pre-empted one spammer right away already this morning. Of course it won't always be that easy, but I'll take a softball every now and again.

Maybe playing with a more subtle color? like grayed out-kind of thing. I use a bright background and the yellow is not suited for bright background.

I think it would be easy enough to keep the boldness of the font (which looks bolder than usual) and use the same font color as older members?

I think if it helps the moderators to identify new incarnations of the current mass spammer, everything is fine with me.

When the current wave of spam dies down, we can still dial down the visual markers a bit.

Agree with the idea. But think that perhaps a little bit darker color like in the orange range might be visually better. Whatever would be easier on the eyes to read.

I don't get it , now there are both yellow and pink colors.

cloakersmoaker always used to have a pink name iirc

Cloakersmoker is a member of the discord and staff there. He asked us if he could join the team and remove some spam here and there - and did that.
At that point he had like 10-20 posts. During the recent spam attack a member of the staff got paranoid when seeing a staff member with so few posts and used the ban hammer
Now his post count is reset although he had more posts before.

I get the impression that these new precautions against spammers is why I, as a new user, can't post into the 'Ask for Help' board..

We understand it's extremely annoying, and we're sorry about that, but you have to understand that we have to weigh your extreme annoyance (and maybe one or two other new users) against the extreme annoyance of a sizable swath of the user base who has to tolerate the actions of a malicious spammer. I will alert an admin to this.
