Forum pages do not format correctly

15 Feb 2019, 10:48

When I go to the Forums home page, the page formatting is fine. However, when I log into the forum, forum pages are not being correctly formatted.

1. at first I thought the problem was Firefox, because if I would open a forum page in a "New private window" the problem was not there. So, I

a. disabled all my addons
b. renamed my user.Chrome.css file
c. shutdown and restart my Win 7 system

doing all the above did not fix the problem.

2. I then deleted all my Autohotkey cookies. I oened the forum page, and everything appeared fine. That is, until I logged in. Once I log in, pages appear, basically, as plain text.

I looked at my forum preferences, but I haven't changed them for some time and don't want to (lest it makes troubleshooting this problem impossible). \

This problem started today, 20190215.

Any susggestions as to what I may do or what is wrong would be greatly appreciated.

It was just plain text. Now it is worse. Still not sure it is AHK forum.

When I open the forum in a NEW PRIVATE window, the problem is NOT there.

Now, however, instead of just plain text, I get what you see in my screen shot. but, first. how do I send scren shot?

I don't undestand attaching a file.

after I attach a file, I open it, to make sure it is the correct file!!!! But, then the attachment disappears.

Could you try out the other styles as well -> upper right corner under your username -> select user control panel -> then under board preferences select another style.
Simplicity is the default for most users and seems to work well.
Also which browser version are you on?

The problem might lie with the prosilver theme then.
We will try it out ourselves in combination with this firefox version.
For now you can visit the forum using the simplicity theme. :)

What perplexes me this most is this: Why does Prosilver work in a PRIVATE WINDOW and not a non-private window?

That certainly made it look like the problem was Firefox, an extension, my .CSS file, cookies or something else on my end. Can you answer that question?

And,of course, the other question: why did this suddenly happen? What "prosilver" just changed?

what about chrome? not sure what you're asking. Google chrome? I don't even have it installed. My User.chrome.css file? I haven't changed it for months and the problem existed both with and without it. Otherwise, I have no deas. I rarely upgrade anything other than Firefox. I was in the Registry the other day, but was just rooting around.

Well, for now i'm not dissatisfied with using Simplicity. So, unless I come up something that may help you, and--most importantly--since you haven't had others report a problem, I guess we should just let it go. But, if you really want to dig, I'd be more than willing to assist any way I can. I was going to do a system restore, but with simplicty workng for me, I see no reason.

oooooh, now I remember... I did have a problem with AHK yesterday, but hard to imagine it's related. I had a runaway script. l Seems there may be a problem with doing RELOADS under certain conditions, but the runaway only occurred once. Suddenly, after re-executing a script with #SingleInstance Force, I had 20 (more?) versions of the same script running. But, all I did was reboot and forgot about it.

I see... I mainly use firefox too. Prosilver is running fine here. Thanks for the help, from the screenshot it looks like a partial load issue. Can you check if content.css and colors.css load correctly?
e.g. https://www.autohotkey.com/boards/styles/prosilver/theme/content.css

You can do Ctrl + Shift + E in Firefox, and reload the page. See if css loads, HTTP codes 304 and 200.

not exactly sure what you mean about "http codes 304 and 200". But, opened the page, did the Ctrl+shift+e, hit the RELOAD button, and appears the .css file reloaded just fine.

so, guess what? I tried Prosilver just now. And, of course, it works now. I haven't booted or done anything that I can think would change things.
thanks for your help. Since I can't reproduce the problem now, I think there's little left to do.
