Signature disable for new users

Signatures seem to used often by spammers - they make a few "posts" (useless comments often) and then add a signature with spam link.

So why not disable signatures for users < 30 posts or something like that.

btw the old archived forum is also riddled with signature spam posts (drugs, second hand car parts and related drivel)

I just banned one with a working link sig a few hours ago... it was reported by ahk7, the creator of this topic, iirc: https://www.autohotkey.com/boards/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=111783 - I am pretty sure, he had a working link sig for some service called 'docdrive', before he was banned. The same signature with a working link was visible in his profile.

But there is also this guy: https://www.autohotkey.com/boards/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=111659 - with broken links (Edit: broken bbcode, the links are actually working), which appear in his one post. Here, it is clearly a signature by a new user....

There are more accounts without posts, like https://www.autohotkey.com/boards/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=111726 or https://www.autohotkey.com/boards/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=111722 Perhaps they got stopped from posting by the forum software. (There are entries in the logs for the first one, but it might have been for links in the post body, not the sig.)

I agree. I also remember seeing a few new members with spam signatures that were links to some product (that had absolutely nothing to do with IT or programming).

This profile is another example of fraudulent new users (likely criminals or spam bots) with spam signatures - https://www.autohotkey.com/boards/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=111833

Saw one today* and some earlier this week - *the signature is now removed for that user but there are now several users who post "nice" comments (usually only one) but have links in their profile to commercial websites:
* this user had a spam signature https://www.autohotkey.com/boards/viewtopic.php?p=286503#p286503 but has "contact spam"
https://www.autohotkey.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5008&p=283684#p283684
(see/click the contact bubble/link for those users)

Some users now use the website link from their profile page, so when you click the [...] beneath their name in a post there is a link - can't the website link not be disabled for new users? Reported several this week.

Not sure.... I have just set "Can change profile field information" to "Never" for "Newly Registered Users".
