The forum search does not work 99% of the time.

I bet others have made post on this, but since search does not reall work, i wouldn't know.

I hit advance search, and it tells me to try again in so many seconds.

I try again, get the advanced search page and click submit, and it says try again in so many seconds.

The forum search is useless.

It's not a good search, but there are not many complaints (it works 99% of the time for me, but the results are not very good) - and it's the default search module of the phpBB forum software, I guess. Perhaps there are additional restrictions for you concerning the frequency of searches, because you are a newly registered user... but I have not heard of it before (there are posting restrictions, yes)

But there's is also this: https://www.autohotkey.com/search/
It works better and also covers the archived forums and the documentation.
All kinds of external search engines index the forum topics anyway.

The forum search is great for searching this forum, that is, I like it because it doesn't search the documentation, the old forum or any other site for that matter. You can easily selects subforums, authors, dates etc. It is good to have multiple search possibilities. Timeouts are ofc annoying, perhaps they are longer for newer users.

Cheers.

I've just updated my forum tutorial:
jeeswg's forum tutorial: tips for using the forum - AutoHotkey Community
https://autohotkey.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=29007
- To find a post by searching keywords and/or usernames, you can often get better results with Bing than with Google. E.g. site:autohotkey.com custom InputBox.
- AutoHotkey's built-in search is faster if you're logged in. The 'Sorry but you cannot use search at this time. Please try again in _ seconds.' delays are shorter. I believe a 30-second wait is typical if logged out, no wait or a 7-second wait is typical if logged in.
The reduced search delays are probably the main reason to log in, for someone not intending to post anything.

You need to be a registered user too iirc (above specific postcount).
We had an attacker slowing down the website because he kept using the search at very high speeds.
