horizontal rule: too faint

05 Nov 2019, 09:57

I see some problems with the 'hr' BBCode tag:
• It's too faint. Practically invisible.
• It doesn't copy to the clipboard. Removing any indication that text sections are intended as separate.
• Also, it eats adjacent blank lines. 2 workarounds are [ b][ /b] (minus the spaces) and using extra blank lines.

I might start using 50 lots of Chr(9472), BOX DRAWINGS LIGHT HORIZONTAL, see 'hello world 2'.
Any other ideas? Thanks.

I'm colourblind and I see it rather clearly. The hr tag was never meant to be copy-able:
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTML/Element/hr

I could make it slightly darker if you want, but this goes beyond the scope of the support for this forum. It's personal preference... Changing it for one user is changing it for all... :/

Yeah, to change it just for me wouldn't be good. Especially as I probably won't use it because of the copy/paste issue.
Maybe it looks more distinct in different themes.
I had wondered if there was some 'hr' tag option, or some other similar/related tag. Thanks.

Btw I didn't see any reference re. copiable in the link.

Here's a template url for testing out styles:
https://autohotkey.com/boards/viewtopic.php?style=0&f=3&t=69538
There appear to be styles for many of numbers 0 to 17.
Is there a complete list? Thanks.

You can choose the styles here:
under "My board style": https://www.autohotkey.com/boards/ucp.php?i=174
I don't have a list for this. I just guess the numbers... The ?style=# is not meant to be used for everyday use. I mainly use it for debugging css styling...

Interestingly, horizontal rule looks better if you use it like this:

hello world 1: 'hr' tag
hello world 1: 'hr' tag
hello world 1: 'hr' tag
hello world 1: 'hr' tag
hello world 1: 'hr' tag
hello world 1: 'hr' tag

hello world 2: 50 ─
hello world 2: 50 ─
hello world 2: 50 ─
──────────────────────────────────────────────────
hello world 2: 50 ─
hello world 2: 50 ─
hello world 2: 50 ─

hello world 3: 50 =
hello world 3: 50 =
hello world 3: 50 =
==================================================
hello world 3: 50 =
hello world 3: 50 =
hello world 3: 50 =
