Any kind of exception can be triggered and it is not possible for the calling code to check for and then throw appropriate exceptions.
The code you see is put between a caller and a callee for a few reasons.
The caller can make any kind of mistake and it would not be helpful to blame this correctly coded code.

.hasMethod will never be a thing unless we change .__call and all COMObjects on this world.
