Colors Syntax Scheme for Notepad2

07 Jun 2022, 17:16

I am widely using multiple and different color versions of Notepad2. And I could create another adjustmentents to some existing scheme at

View > Customize Schemes... >

[as I do not know to create one from srcatch - and the creator's answer to this question available at https://www.flos-freeware.ch/doc/notepad2-FAQs.html#q31 leads nowhere as there is not "Readme.txt" file, just "Notepad2.txt" which contains no info about this]

But maybe someone already has came up with some [preferably] dark colors for this text editor; in version 4.2.25 x64?

Given the age of notepad2 might better off going with a newer fork, notepad3 seems logical (last update 2021) https://www.rizonesoft.com/downloads/notepad3/ which AutoHotkey syntax highlighting according to the description with dark mode / theme built in.

Edit: not using it myselt btw so can't assist with the program

I might use this Notepad3, as one of its contributors is creator of Notepad2 - or some other text editor and associate it just with AHK files. Hell, I am already using Notepad++ just for utilizing some data exported from Mp3tag with a script

But I if will not utilize Notepad2 for AHKs- then why stop at text editors and not just use some AHK dedicated editor?

Notepad++ is used by many for AutoHotkey and you already know it, so less to learn, there is great tool that works with Notepad++ here https://github.com/Toralf-AHK/AHK-Project-Manager

Other alternative is https://www.autohotkey.com/scite4ahk/

Both are probably better suited given their autocompletion and associated AutoHotkey tools, not just syntax highlighting only (but do experiment and use what you like best)

But where are its settings stored? Do I have to copy all content of the C:\Users\YOUR-USER-NAME\Documents\AutoHotkey\SciTE in order to preserve them?

And can I change location of that C:\Users\YOUR-USER-NAME\Documents\AutoHotkey folder? I hate it when anything installs parts of itself in my Documents, which I use only for temporary garbage of all kind

I don't use it myself but there is an entire forum section dedicated to it so you have to do some research.
