Message Box alternative - 1 & 2 instead of clicking Yes & No

I want the script to stop at some point and wait for me to enter keys "1" or "2".
If I click "1" it should do one thing, if I click "2" it should do another thing.
Is there a way to do it?
Message box with "Yes/No" options stops the script until you click on either Yes or No.
I want the same thing, but instead of clicking with a mouse on Yes/No buttons I'd like to press certain keys, for example, 1 and 2.
If you don't know how to do it in PMC, send me a script.
Hopefully I'll figure out how to implement your script in PMC.
