Not sure how useful this list will be but it seems that on a regular basis there are posts like "why does AHK not work (anymore)", after trial and error it is usually a variety of programs that block or interfere with AutoHotkey. Perhaps a maintaining a list will be helpful for people who search.

Installing
General
  • All programs that have global hotkeys can interfere with AutoHotkey, so for example (anti-)keyboard loggers, clipboard tools etc.
  • Anti-virus and anti-malware software (disable them temporarily and try again, if AutoHotkey works try white listing AutoHotkey)
Hotstring and Hotkeys
  • If they work everywhere except in your browser: Webroot or similar programs to protect the browser seem to be blocking AutoHotkey
  • Don't work at all: Synergy, KeyScrammbler
Feel free to post other programs...

Solved by running scripts as administrator

I run Kaspersky Internet Security 2016 and there is a feature that will protect your passwords while typing them in the password field on a website like Bank of America or PayPal.

Consequently, this will block any of your ahk scripts from running while this website is active(or inactive).
Solution: close the tab or window completely, or turn off that protection feature(I just close out the window myself)
