How can I retrieve the Lat Long from a GeoTagged photo?

08 Sep 2019, 19:15

Hello -

Does anyone know how I can retrieve the Lat and Long from a GeoTagged photo? I know I can retrieve the date and time taken using the FileGetTime function.
But how can I retrieve the lat and Long/coordinates?

Image

All help is appreciated.
Thank you.

I assume that it is part of the EXIF data of the picture. So you could try this: EXIFX() : Exif tags as object. For JPEG,TIFF and TIFF styled RAW
But I am not sure what this means in practice (and if the function above can handle these):
https://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/TagNames/GPS.html wrote: GPS tags are part of the EXIF standard, and are stored in a separate IFD within the EXIF information.

So perhaps try this first, as the info seems to show up in the file properties dialogue: Filexpro() : File Extended Properties Object
There seem to be a few candidates for Longitude, for example:

Code: Select all

System.GPS.DestLongitude
System.GPS.DestLongitudeDenominator
System.GPS.DestLongitudeNumerator
System.GPS.DestLongitudeRef
[...]
System.GPS.Longitude
System.GPS.LongitudeDecimal
System.GPS.LongitudeDenominator
System.GPS.LongitudeNumerator
System.GPS.LongitudeRef

You also might use exiftool for this:
for example How to find geolocation of a photo in Linux?

Thanks for the suggestions @gregster and @hoppfrosch . I'll look into both of those methods and see if I can get it to work.
